Tyler hosts FCA Heart of Champion Bowl

y as student athletes took part in the third annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Heart of a Champion Bowl.

Last fall, head football coaches were asked to nominate some of their players who portrayed strong moral character and who were in good standings with peers and the community.  Those who head up FCA narrowed the list down to 100 student athletes and divided them into two all-star teams; Red and Blue.

The athletes taking part just graduated from high school this year and were able to put their final stamp on their high

school football career Saturday night.The schools which were represented ranged from six man football to 5A.

The Red Team ultimately ended up pulling out a 40-10 win and leads the annual series 2-1.

MVP honors went to Trevor Spear from Elysian Fields. Spear was quarterbacked the red team, going 8 for 8 for 135 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Longview’s Jalen Porter was named the defensive MVP.

The Blue Team was quarterbacked by Bullard’s Colton Mebane who finished the night by going 8 of 12 for 86 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown pass was to receiver Lin Gilham of Grace Community with 8:22 left in the contest.
