It’s time for area churches to hold their yearly Vacation Bible school programs again, so I thought I’d give a quick mention to my church’s program. The fact is, VBS curriculum has become something of an industry in recent years. When I was a kid the programs were more or less like Sunday school during the week. Today, however there are a couple of major publishers who sell props, lessons and other materials that are largely ready, made. Every summer the companies will release a new program / theme and churches will share the materials, holding their own sessions throughout the summer. It ends up being a fairly efficient system and is an opportunity for Tyler’s churches to work together.
