Pump Jacks coming to Tyler

Minor League baseball is returning to the Tyler as the East Texas Pump Jacks move from Kilgore to the Rose City. The Pump Jacks will play their Ehome games at Irwin Field on the Campus of UT Tyler.

Although the team has only made an agreement to playing in Tyler for the 2015 season, the Pump Jacks’ general manager Mike Lieberman said he hopes it’s a more permanent move.

“This is an exciting announcement for the Pump Jacks,” Lieberman said. “We’re looking forward to calling Tyler home for years to come.”

In their seven seasons of playing at Driller Park in Kilgore, the team won more than 200 games and won the Texas Collegiate League Championship in 2012, never failing to make the playoffs.

The Pump Jacks first game of the regular season is slated for May 28 when they travel to McKinney to take on the Marshals. Their first home game is slated for Thursday, June 4, when they play host to the Acadiana Can Cutters.

The Pump Jacks recently named Ernie May as the team’s new skipper. He comes to the Rose Capital with over 20 years of college coaching experience.
