Skyvue in Tyler

After driving past Skyvue Theater on 69 in Tyler not too long ago, I asked myself if I’m the only person missing the point. I have nothing against the venue itself but I just don’t get the appeal, especially this time of the year with scorching 100-degree heat where you’d have to keep the car running in order to feel the least bit comfortable. Something about sitting in a hot car in front of a big screen just isn’t appealing to me.

I do a lot of driving and I use my car from getting from one destination to the other. When I reach my destination, I don’t want to sit in my parked car for another two hours. Not only do I not see the appeal, I’m confused, and I would love for someone to explain it to me.

A movie theater in itself is less appealing to me than it used to be. They’re expensive and there’s no harm in waiting for it to come out on DVD or TV where I can watch it from the comfort of my home and be able to get a drink and a snack or go use the restroom without missing an important scene to the plot.

However, I’d rather go to a regular theater and sit inside with air conditioning and not leave my car running.

For those who have a different opinion than I do on the issue, and going to the drive in theater sounds appealing, ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children between the ages of 5-11. Any kids under 5 get in free. They are currently playing Inside Out and Jurassic World.
