Patriots to tip off basketball season

It’s always a sad thing to see high school football season come to an end. As for right now, we’ve still got the playoffs and a few games left at Trinity Mother Frances Stadium, but what are we going to go watch when it’s over?

Sure you can watch some high school basketball but what about college basketball? Can I interest you in UT Tyler hoops? Granted, basketball might not be the best sport but if you can’t have the best, why not enjoy the next best thing Tyler has to offer? Not to mention, the UT Tyler Patriots are on their way up and making a name for themselves.

The Patriots officially tip off the season Nov. 17 when they play host to the Paul Quinn Tigers.

UT Tyler is in the American Southwest Conference with Concordia University, East Texas Baptist University, Hardin-Simmons University, Howard Payne University, LeTourneau University, Louisiana College, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Mississippi College, University of Ozarks, Schreiner University, Sul Ross State University, University of Texas at Dallas and Texas Lutheran University.

The first conference game for the Patriots is slated for Nov. 24, two days after Thanksgiving when they hit the raod to take on Howard Payne in Brownwood. Their next home game after their game against Paul Quinn will be Dec. 6 when the Jarvis Christian Bulldogs come to Tyler.
