Patriots’ Games

The UT Tyler basketball team is making a name for itself as it has cruised to an overall record of 14-5 and 9-4 in conference play. As the Patriots continue to roll, they continue to bring quality college basketball to the Rose City.
Forward Travis Dykman was named Southwest Conference east division Co-Player of the Week last week for averaging 19.5 points per game, four assists and three rebounds to help lift his Patriots to a pair of victories over Louisiana College and Mississippi College.

Dykman leads the team in scoring with 258 points has a shooting percentage of .478. The team’s second leading scorer is Darren Houliston who currently has 249 points and a shooting percentage of .543.

The Patriots currently enjoy a three-game winning streak and have played in three overtime periods in the last four games. Their last loss came to the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in Marshall where they fell in double overtime with a final score of 84-82. Four nights later they responded with a commanding 89-68 win over LeTourneau.

The following two games are where Dykman earned the honors as he helped lift UT Tyler to an 80-75 win in overtime against Louisiana College and then a 74-71 win over Mississippi College. The Patriots are scheduled to take on Ozarks at home Saturday before going head-to-head in a grudge match against ETBU on Tuesday Feb. 5.
