We’re a month away from the release of Despicable Me 2, the sequel to the 2010 Pixar Film Despicable Me. Like the first one, the sequel is produced by Illumination Entertainment and distributed by Universal Pictures and will be directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaub. Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio were the co-writers.
In the first film, Gru, a mastermind criminal kidnaps three orphan sisters and plans to use them as pawns in a grand scheme to make himself the most powerful man on the planet. However, his plans gradually change when he starts to care for the little girls and ultimately decides to adopt them as his daughters.
In the sequel, Actor and comedian Steve Carell returns as Gru, who is trying to put his life as a criminal behind him to raise his three adopted daughters, Margo, Edith and Agnes. Keeping his former life as a thing of the past is easier said than done however when he’s recruieted by Lucy Wilde and Silas Ramsbottom to their headquarters where he discovers a new villain named Eduardo. Those who recruited Gru did so to help him fight Eduardo but can’t keep his young daughters out of the picture.
The movie is set to hit theaters on July 2.
