TXU Electric Delivery is now Oncor Electric Delivery since deregulation occurred in 2002. Oncor Electric Delivery is the pole and wires company in the North and North East areas of Texas. If you are having a power outage you would call Oncor to have them repair the lines. TXU Energy is the incumbent electric provider in the East Texas area and is not to be confused with Oncor Electric Delivery. Oncor does not sell electricity service but TXU Energy does. In certain areas like Big Sandy and other pockets around East Texas you only have Cherokee Electric Coop as a choice for electricity service. TXU Energy was the monopoly retail electricity company in this area but there are now over 50 different East Texas electricity providers to choose from. Not all East Texas electric companies offer competitive electric rates and some energy companies advertise rates that look cheap until you receive your first bill. TXU Energy is an established brand in East Texas and have multiple electricity companies competing against them on price.
