Most people are comfortable with driving around town randomly looking at auto’s for sale in Tyler Texas without ever taking the time to consider if this is an efficient use of your time. I have an interesting story about how my very own brother purchased his last two automobiles online. One of them was a Z71 Tahoe and the other was a Nissan sports car. People shopping for cars online are price shopping and are conscientious about getting a good value. The fact that a car dealer gets a call from a potential buyer simply means they have price compared a car that you have and are likely very interested in that exact car.
Once an online shopper calls you on the phone they may be willing to accept your offer even if it is a couple hundred dollars more than the cheapest offer simply because of proximity. As a car dealer you may be asked if you will let the car go for a few hundred dollars less. Of course, you have probably listed your car for sale at a deep discount since you have it in your online inventory but you need to keep in mind that the buyer probably has a good reason for asking for a cheaper price.
As a car buyer it is good to understand how the psychology of this works. The dealer may or may not come down anymore if a dealership in Houston has the car listed for $200 cheaper. The reason is that the Houston car dealer probably has a much larger inventory and moves cars much quicker. A Houston car dealer can afford to come down further or price their cars the cheapest initially. A Tyler Texas car dealer may be a few hundred dollars more expensive but you can’t beat the convenience of proximity.
It doesn’t hurt to try and talk the car dealer into moving the price down to match the dealer in Houston but keep in mind their margins online are thin and they aren’t moving cars as fast as in a big city. At this point you need to weigh the risk reward of buying it local in Tyler or taking the trek to Houston to save $100 after gas money and time wasted.
Rather than driving around town looking for a Tyler Texas car we recommend Googling “Tyler Texas Cars” and searching through online inventories of cars for sale in Tyler. You will find this process to save you a lot of time and it will be easy to price compare. You can get on Ebay and try and find similar cars and see how the prices compare as well.
A Tyler car dealer will be much more willing to come down on the price if you can bring in evidence of what prices you have found on similar cars. The negotiation process of purchasing a car in Tyler is much easier when utilizing the Internet. The only other problem you will have is working out financing. The dealer may attempt to recover any lose in price reduction by working your interest rate up.
I recommend in most cases using your bank in obtaining financing when purchasing a car in Tyler. This will help build your relationship up with your bank and offer additional loan opportunities through your bank in the future.

Located conveniently on Hwy 69 in Lindale between Neals Garden Center and Pizza Inn on the opposite side of the road from Walmart, is Hanks shop. They offer general auto repairs and service, a brake service, tires and transmissions.
Hanks is always busy – a sign of a good reputation. They open early in the morning and close around 6 pm, and all day there are customers coming and going. You can phone for an appointment, or just drop in. If you can leave your vehicle all day until they have time to look at it then this is ideal. There is also a warm waiting room if you need to stick around.
We took my husband’s pickup truck there recently. It needed an inspection, tires and there was a funny noise that we couldn’t locate. The tires were no problem, the inspection cost just $14 but the noise proved a more difficult problem to solve. For some reason, the vehicle would not perform when examined! Not one or two or even three – but four of their mechanics took the trouble to take the truck for a test drive to get it to make the noise and they even had the bright idea of keeping it overnight and trying it early in the morning in case it was cold related. It still didn’t make the noise and in fact, it hasn’t since. Perhaps the very threat of being given the once over by the experts at Hanks scared the noise away! What impressed us was the effort the mechanics took over this problem and that they charged us nothing for the time they took trying to find and locate the mystery noise.
This was the second positive experience we have had at Hanks. It comes recommended.

I really haven’t known of too many niche businesses in Tyler that weren’t a larger franchise or something already familiar like putt putt golf. I’m not knocking putt putt because I love that sport but how many truly fun niche businesses are there in Tyler? I just don’t of that many and I know there are more then I realize so it was great getting to meet Al Hefner with BMP Design and Hefner Tuning.
BMP Design in Tyler Texas
Al specializes in BMW’s and mini-cooper design, maintenance, repair and performance parts and modifications. Many of their day to day operations include general maintenance and repair of BMW, mini-coopers, and the occasional alternative euro car out there.
Al Hefner has experience doing extreme modifications to mini-cooper’s and BMW’s that were truly amazing to see first hand. He has a warehouse where he ships out BMW and mini-cooper performance parts for the do it yourselfers. For those people who don’t want to make these modifications themselves he has a unique skill set that enables him to make some custom modifications to these makes of cars without missing anything. Al specializes in BMW and mini-cooper cars which gives him a bit more knowledge than the mechanic shops that will say, “we can do that” to every customer that comes in the door regardless of whether they have ever laid their hand on that type of car.
I have a nice car and really only want to take it to a place I know will take good care of and will recommend the right type efficiency and performance parts if I decide to make these additions. Al Hefner tuning is located behind Al’s BMP Design business. BMP Design has been in business since the early 70’s and were one of the original OEM BMW parts distributors in America. BMP Design has many videos explaining what their performance parts can do for your car and why. They have advanced diagnostic computers and testing equipment to make sure the parts they use to modify your car do what they say they can do.
I recommend everyone considering making a performance modification to your European car go by and check out how BMP design may be able to help. One of the first modifications I plan on making is an air filter modification. This is one of their simpler modifications and allows more air flow into the engine. By speeding up the air flow in a car you add a little more horsepower and torque to your engine. Another smaller modification that can do a lot is a super chip. BMP Design has the expertise to install your superchip according to proper procedure as they have been doing this for a long time.
The technicians and staff and BMP are very knowledgeable if you decide to call them on the phone. I would go to their website and watch some of their thorough videos on performance modification equipment, minor repair procedures, and car racing examples. If you are in to race cars and what a performance modification can do to a BMW or mini-cooper then you will probably be on their site for awhile. When you call you can have them but together a quote sheet on how much a repair or performance modification might cost for your
BMW or
mini-cooper.

They currently have a mini-cooper in their shop that has the rear wheels being run off of a helicopter engine. They routinely modify BMW’s with a stronger and better engineered exhaust system that makes a huge difference on horsepower called

I recently had the unfortunate incident of backing up my car into a red stationary poll over at Andy’s Custard in Tyler while backing up to turn out and on to Broadway. My all time favorite icecream in Tyler is Marble Slab but sometimes the convenience of a drive through that Andy’s offers is much better. So I put a little ding on my car’s bumper that caused it to have a little bit of an outie. This ding was messed up plastic and gave a really ugly mark on what I consider to be an awesome looking car. I had to do something about this right away as it is just too nice of a car to let that stay. 
I know how much auto body work costs and have taken a few cars to an auto body and paint repair shop over the years and listened to the estimates. The estimates can be pretty brutal. I actually have never been to an auto body place where the estimate was under $2,000. My ding on my bumper was about one square inch but my estimate came to around $800. I decided to pay them out of pocket rather than file an insurance claim. I really don’t want my insurance going up over a stupid thing like this. I told Davis Green auto body paint and repair in advance that I would be paying for the body work out of pocket and not from insurance. I recommend anyone considering paying for the repairs yourself to mention this at the beginning like I did.
I assume auto body repair places are not supposed to adjust the price based on if you have insurance pay or you pay yourself but it is always good to let them know. My estimate ended up being right about $800 and they offered me a full auto detail for $26 extra which I decided would be worth it so I added that to the final price. $800 is a whole lot of money but I have a nice car I saved up for over several years and I really wanted to keep it in tip top condition. You can imagine how bad I felt when I slowly backed up into a pole protecting a trash can box at Andy’s. It was not a good feeling. I did not see it and by the time my car alarm sounded that I was getting too close it was too late.
Now I am $800 shorter in change but Davis Green did an unbelievable job. You cannot see any damage or discoloration after they finished with my automotive. Davis Green auto body shop had to remove the bumper, melt the plastic, sand, prime, and repaint over the damaged area and you cannot tell that it had gone through any of this. If you need a good auto body shop in Tyler Texas I would strongly recommend you try Davis Green. They are certified in BMW auto body work which is the car I had to take in to have fixed.
Some Tyler Texas auto body shops I have been to are not the most honest people and in my case I have seen some outright insurance fraud when I was younger with some of the things these places were doing. Davis Green body shop never indicated any bad behavior or potential for insurance fraud. This auto body shop in Tyler TX is honest and professional in how they operate which you will notice as you first walk in the door. The facility from the outside is remarkable as this place has recently been built in a new location over the last 5 years and has had another addition added on during this time. Davis Green continues to get bigger and better over the years and with the knowledge that I am dealing with certified BMW auto body work and repair I feel more than comfortable taking my car there next time.
Davis Green is certified in several car and truck brands in regards to auto body and paint work. We have not been paid to refer their services on this site but simply had a very good experience with them. Freedom Automotive & Muffler of Tyler, Inc. is located on Highway 64 West in Tyler, TX almost half-way between Loop 323 and the Tyler Pounds Airport. The company has been a Better Business Bureau Accredited business since April 20th, 2006. The Better Business Bureau has not processed a single negative complaint on this company in at least thirty-six months.
Freedom Automotive in Tyler
Their main focus and expertise is in muffler and exhaust installs and repairs, but they are capable of all automotive repair and installation.
I first went to Freedom Automotive & Muffler because I had close friends who recommended them to me as a mechanic shop that was honest and affordable. I’ve had several friends who have used them with good results. I will also be sending my close friends and family to them in the future for any type of car work.
The reason I needed a mechanic was that my car was having minor electrical problems. The lights would only go to high beams or off. I couldn’t very well drive around with no lights or only brights, but I didn’t want to pay for work on my high mileage car. I had been planning to sell my car and purchase another used car, but I had to leave for a family visit in New England for the Thanksgiving holiday. I went into Freedom Automotive and was met by the co-owner Mrs. Hayes. She was so incredibly helpful and considerate. She had the guys look at it and then made some calls to find the multi-switch that I needed. She called her different auto suppliers and found out that the part was not a normally stocked item and was therefore going to cost over two hundred dollars. The cool thing was that she cared that it was expensive to me. Even though she could do nothing about the cost, it earned my business.
I had to leave for a cross country road trip within less than a week, so I decided to get it fixed and try to sell it very quickly. I did some looking at used cars and had a potential, but I checked with Jep Hayes at Freedom Automotive. He was very helpful. I asked if the car would be worth keeping. He looked at my car and told me that it was a good car and would easily run another fifty thousand or more miles with a new timing belt. He said that he personally drove all of his cars into the ground, because it worked out to be cheaper. He also helped me see that when buying a used car you are buying the previous owner’s mistakes and something they are wanting to be rid of which may turn out to need tons of repairs.
I talked with my wife and we decided this was probably the best decision. So we had them install a timing belt and do a couple of other things. Then I paid another company a little to install new speakers, and the results were amazing. It was like we had a new car. Only we spent about three thousand dollars less than we would have and avoided debt. The car has been running great for a few months now. He even fixed an almost deafening squeal that had been “fixed” by other mechanics about seven or eight times. The car hasn’t squealed since.
This company earned my trust by being honest and helpful. They didn’t try to convince me to replace parts that didn’t need it. I went to them with the repairs I wanted done and they found the cheapest parts they could and did the work quicker than I could believe. Even though they had other vehicles they were working on, they took my pressing time need into account and finished the job early before my trip. I was more than pleased with their service and work ethic and even their friendly advice.

In the past I would take my car in to have a glass chip repaired or to have my windshield replaced because I simply never thought that there was such thing as a mobile service where they would come to your home or work and replace your window. Since then I have gotten with it and I now only call those mobile window repair services to replace my window. In some cases the window replacement will not cost you anymore money by having them repair it on site. I really can’t beat the convenience of a service like this.

On a search for a minivan in Tyler and very much on a budget, we headed to Crown Kia in Tyler. We had previous experience with Kias, having owned a Sorrento. We had been initially impressed with all it’s features but very soon realized that quantity doesn’t equal quality. Interior paint peeled, the CD player got stuck and all sorts of bits of plastic broke off over time. But we were tempted at the thought of being able to buy a newer vehicle and attracted by special offers we had seen in the media, so found ourselves at Crown.
As soon as we pulled up, a salesman approached us. He was helpful but kept pressing us for details of our budget which we weren’t prepared to discuss. On test-driving the van we just weren’t sure. It didn’t feel as ‘solid’ as others we had seen. However, the salesman was really keen to take us into the office and after filling in some paperwork about our trade-in vehicle he left us to get the ‘best price’ from the boss. It was then that we began to feel trapped! Hard sell and lots of techniques to get us to buy the car followed. As we didn’t appear to be susceptible to these tricks of the trade, our salesman worked harder and harder. Our trade-in vehicle even doubled in value during the 10 minute discussion! We left the dealership with the salesman shaking his head in sympathy and disbelief at us for passing up an opportunity of a lifetime.
To be honest, I am very glad that I was not at Crown without my husband as I don’t like conflict and probably would have given in to the hard sell in order to stop it.
So, if you want a Kia (and are you sure you do?) be prepared when you visit Crown. The salesman will work hard for you to get you a good deal for sure but you may feel really pressured like we did, into making a purchase you are not sure about.
And by the way, in the end, we bought an older Toyota – it’s great!

Owner Kenny Giles keeps a busy stream of customers going and coming and the guys at Grace have an excellent reputation as honest businessmen as well. They won’t recommend unnecessary labor, and they are willing to work with customers to keep the parts costs low. As a result their over all prices are quite reasonable. Mr. Giles also keeps a number of repaired vehicles in the yard, which he sells at low prices to those in ministry who are in need of transportation.
Their Christian ethics, and ties to individuals in local Tyler Texas ministries has afforded them with many opportunities to be a blessing to area charities. All this goes to establishing an excellent reputation in the community.
