Chandler Parsons joins Mavs

July 10th, 2014

Lost in all the NBA free agency talk is the future of Chandler Parsons who left one Texas team for another. Parsons is now a former Houston Rocket after leaving H-Town for Big D to join the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavs went all in on the small forward with a three-year, $45 million deal according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
Parsons averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists in the 2013-2014 season.

The deal comes roughly a week after the Mavs brought back Tyson Chandler from the Knicks. Chandler was a key figure in helping the Mavs win the 2011 NBA Finals over the Miami Heat.

If all the Mavs stay healthy, they will have a strong dynamic with Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis, Chandler and Parsons.

Elsewhere in the league, the defending champion San Antonio Spurs gave a contract extension to future Hall of Fame coach Greg Poppavich. No decision has been officially made public regarding Lebron James but he’ll more than likely remain in South s once again.Beach.ender

The Mavericks experienced an early exit after losing the in the first round to San Antonio but were the only team in the postseason who forced seven games against the Spurs. Perhaps the addition of Parsons will help put them over the hump and make them contenders once again.
