Lindsey Field in Tyler

June 14th, 2012

Tyler’s city parks are becoming increasingly central to my sense of community in this town. I realize that for most people it’s probably always been this way, and I’m only now noticing it since I’m now an adult and a parent. Here at Tyler TX Directory, we’ve written fairly extensively on the various city parks. Rose Rudman, Bergfield and Faulkner Parks have all graced our pages at one point or another and all are great parks. A number of them have been improved in recent years. One park, on which we’ve not written much, deserves a mention, and that’s Lindsey Park, on Greenbriar road and spur 364. The park has at least five baseball / softball fields, about six or seven different soccer fields and a frisbee golf course. All the facilities are really nicely developed, and well maintained. The park has also recently added some new children’s playground equipment.

I’ve already spent some evenings with my son at this park since the summer started. Even (and perhaps especially), when there’s no one else around, it’s a great place to hit a few balls and run the bases. When that gets old the new swings and jungle gym are a great way to burn off a little excess energy before hitting the showers and heading to bed. So when the kids get rowdy this summer, try visiting this park. You’ll find lots of space to run, and play.

Chuck E Cheese Coupons verses Just Going to CiCi’s For Even Cheaper

October 5th, 2011

Here is a CiCi’s coupon good until Oct 9 2011: Click here

Chuck E Cheese pizza in Tyler is one of those places many believe Tyler is so lucky to have. I have been to Chuck E Cheese in 2011 5 times so far and this has been 5 times too many. When I was a child living in Wichita Falls Texas my parents pretended the place was not even there and I totally understand why. Now as an adult I feel like sound pollution from this pizza place is a form of torture but yet I still take my kids here sometimes because I know they love it but yet they love the Chick Fila kids play area and the Cici’s arcade just as much. So why do I or any of us have to be tortured by the big mouse robot? Honestly the mouse is pretty cool but like I said the noise is too much for even my son. If you are one of those that likes this loud kids arcade you can save a lot of money by getting their online coupons but you can get by cheap and still have fun at Cici’s too with coupon even.

If you want Chuck E Cheese coupons just go straight to their website as they offer them right there. You don’t even have to print the coupons as you can pull it up on your phone and show the employees from your phone as we have done this numerous times.

For a better idea why not save money instead by choosing Cici’s pizza. The pizza is better, it is not as loud, and kids under 3 eat free.

As a kid I loved the mouse and I often got confused regarding if the robot mouse was alive and just very still because he would sometimes roam around greeting kids. As an adult I am not confused about Chuck E Cheese, I know what mouse is robot and what mouse is a pizza guy. I still love the mouse but I don’t like how loud and crazy it is.

The only downside to going to CiCi’s is not having a robot mouse and greeter and not having the awesome playground area. I think your kids will still have a lot of fun going to CiCi’s instead as I have seen no complaints from my nieces, nephews, and my own kids.

If you must still go to Chuck E Cheese you can access their coupons on your phone here: http://www.chuckecheese.com/coupons/ You must select your city and click on Submit or simply use the coupons from the Tyler Texas area…they should work pretty much anywhere: Tyler TX Chuck E Cheese Coupons

Tyler SKYVUE

January 17th, 2010

Outdoor movie drive in, Tyler TX
Tyler SKYVUE is our drive-in theater that is located at 10713 Hwy 69 North, Tyler, Texas 75706. Just three minutes north of Tyler’s Loop 323 and four minutes south of Lindale’s Interstate 20. The cost is $6 per adult and $4 per child that is 5-12 years old…younger than that are free. It’s a great place to go if you want to watch a movie, but in a different way. You get to watch two movies and they are newer releases. I enjoy going because you can take your own chairs and sit in the outside. You can comment on the movie, if you want and won’t get in trouble by talking in a closed room. You can also take whatever snacks and drinks you want, which saves you money. They have a place where you can buy snacks and drinks if you would rather than bringing your own.

Movies theaters are a great entertainment and how about a different experience with a drive-in theater? Going to an outdoor theater is very fun and interesting. You have to wait until it gets dark outside before they start the movies, which is usually somewhere around 7p.m. or so. They usually end by midnight or later because its two movies you are watching….so you get two for the price of one. Skyvue is a great place for you to go out and have some fun with your friends and/or family and not worry about going broke while you do it.

Skyvue isn’t far off, whether you live in Lindale or Tyler, it is worth the drive to see a movie. This makes a great gift…to pick up some friends and take them as a group to see two movies for the price of one, we did that and ended up having a blast and decided it was worth doing more.

Making Magic at Chuck E. Cheese

January 8th, 2010

Chuck E. Cheese is as they say, “Where a kid can be a kid!” From arcades to pizza to seeing Chuck E. Cheese himself you can be sure that every visit is a magical one at Chuck E. Cheese in Tyler. Chuck E. Cheese has easy to reach arcades for toddlers and cool action packed arcades for older kids. Most all of the arcades spit out tickets which you can redeem for prizes. Every child can win a prize no matter how many tickets he or she received. If you want a larger prize than what your tickets can get you, you can pay the difference with cash. Saving getting the prizes till you are about to leave makes leaving this awesome place a little easier. It’s so much fun you’ll find yourself staying till closing.

With the safety kid check at the only entrance to the store, employees can be sure that no child can leave without the adult that brought them. This can put a parents mind at ease. At the kid check at the entrance a matching number is stamped on the adults hand and each child’s hand. This number can only be seen under a black light which is located at the entrance/exit. A child cannot leave without an adult with the matching number.

The menu at Chuck E. Cheese is nothing to brag about. It’s not the best tasting food in Tyler but it’s not bad either. The pizza is made fresh and the salad bar has fresh veggies, I can’t complain about that. If the prices are too high for you check out the Chuck E. Cheese website (chuckecheese.com) for coupons. They always have specials on family packs that usually include tokens. Your child can also receive free tokens when he or she brings in a report card with good grades. There is also a “reward calendar” that you can download from the Chuck E. Cheese website to fill out and bring in for free tokens. The reward calendar is a list of things or chores that your child can do at home such as clean your room. The parent checks off things on the list and when the list has been completed the child can exchange it for tokens. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

But of course the best thing about Chuck E Cheese in Tyler Texas is seeing Chuck E himself. Whether for a birthday party or just having fun it’s always a blast to see this mouse walk out and give you a hug, unless you are terrified of human size mice.

Chuck E Cheese is also a great place to work. It’s fun! It’s not a stressful job. You could be Chuck E Cheese and make kids smile. The manager in Tyler has let Chuck E go visit the Pediatric wing in the hospital some mornings when business was slow. You can work in the kitchen making pizza and cotton candy. The main priorities as an employee at Chuck E Cheese is one: be sure every guest leaves happy and two: have fun. You do have to have energy to keep up and be able to handle loud noises, but other than that Chuck E Cheese’s in Tyler Texas is a great place to work and play.
