HCG Injections Equals a Shot to the gut

January 17th, 2011

HCG Hormone ShotInjecting the hormones HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin), Oxyntomodulin, or Symlin for weight loss can be, both literally and figuratively, a real “shot to the gut”.

With each hormone having it’s variances in origin all three are essentially used the same in weight loss: inject it into your body and it will reduce your appetite to eat. The first attempts at injecting hormones for weight loss started as far back as the 1950’s when the pregnancy induced hormone, HCG, was thought to burn abnormal fat as well as help suppress hunger once injected into the body.

Oxyntomodulin is a little bit more interesting as it is a hormone released by the small intestine into the bloodstream to let the brain know that you are eating. The theory is that, when injected 15-30 minutes before a meal, you are tricking your body into thinking you have already eaten.

Is the HCG Hormone Shot Safe?

Symlin is a synthetic drug that copy cats the insulin regulating hormone Amylin. Primarily used to help diabetics, some theorize that the man-made hormone can help non-diabetics with weight loss by, once again, making individuals feel fuller and less likely to binge.

Among the loopholes in this method of weight loss is that each use of the hormones is accompanied with a regimented low-calorie diet. So, if you are exploring hormone injections for weight loss, I suggest you save yourself the cost of the injections and the hassle of pricking yourself with needles in the gut and just institute a 500 calorie per day diet along with plenty of exercise.

Binging and Purging: Unhealthy Approach to Weight Loss in Tyler TX

July 6th, 2010

A binge refers to a time where food is consumed in excess to the point of being terribly uncomfortable.  Purging is forcibly removing this food from the body by means of induced vomiting or the use of laxatives.  Neither is a healthy approach to eating and could result in detrimental long term effects.  This practice can easily lead to the eating disorder bulimia.

The practice of binging and purging in Tyler, Texas often comes from the desire to be thin combined with an inability to control food cravings.  So a person will eat large volumes of unhealthy foods and afterwards begin to feel guilty or afraid of the consequences these foods will have on their weight and become desperate to avoid those consequences.  Many will rationalize this practice by believing it to be a great way to enjoy the taste of fattening foods without gaining weight.

There are so many risks involved with eating in this manner that it is hardly worth the superficial weight loss that comes with it.  You can easily become malnourished, which is the least of the potential side effects.  There is no way to have a healthy self image when you use unhealthy methods for weight loss, which means no matter how much you may lose you will still be unhappy with your size. A much more sensible approach is to limit the amount of fatty foods in your diet, eat small and regular portions, and add exercise to your daily routine.

As of late we have seen billboards advertising a new form of weight loss that as far as Tyler is concerned called B Ki. These clinics utilize a hormone researched studied about in the 50’s. Both male or female weight loss candidates can inject the female pregnancy hormone at regular intervals while maintaining a healthy diet.

I am not sure if injecting female hormones into your body is a healthy way to go but a doctor at B Ki will likely be able to fill you in on the negative health side effects if any. I would imagine this weight loss technique would be much safer then any type of surgical weight loss method in Tyler TX.
