iRenew Continues to Push It’s Product Despite Legal Challenges to Power Balance

January 29th, 2011

Well, in the wake of numerous legal challenges and reprimands to similar companies’ one energy jeweler… oops sorry nano, biofield, therapeutic bracelet thingy, company seems to be increasing its advertising. Of course I’m referring to the iRenew products. (And yes their lack of creativity has lead them to copy the Macintosh marketing device of using the small “I” in the naming of their product).

My initial response to these companies was to ridicule them and their believers. But even that’s becoming difficult, in light of the legal hits taken by companies like “Power Balance,” who sells virtually identical products. Unfortunately iRenew continues to push its product undaunted by the negative reflection on itself. If the rest of the American public is anything like me they are more than a little tired of seeing pitchman Art Edmonds showing video of his goons setting up camp in shopping malls and performing the same old stupid balance tests on passersby. The kids performing the tests also deserve comment. They’re always twenty- somethings who look like they just finished working a double tending bar at Appleby’s and thought they’d drop by the mall for a bit, to see if they could make up a few extra dollars to afford that flat screen TV for their otherwise sparse apartments. And the only way the ads could get any more annoying is if instead of Art, they featured Vince Offer, of Sham- Wow fame.

One interesting point to note is the presence of a gorilla by the name of “Scott Becker MD.” The man of letters makes the innocuous claim that “Once you balance your body’s energy with iRenew, you balance your overall health.” The iRenew company evidently thought so much of this tag line they put it on the screen in quotes, and cited Scott Becker MD, Becker Hilton Medical Institute. This led me to wonder whether or not the Becker Hilton Medical Institute (BHMI) was a real medical facility or just a medical “think tank” dedicated to endorsing iRenew. I can’t be sure, but at best, BHMI seems like it’s devoted to finding homeopathic and alternative remedies to hormone problems like menopause and andropause or male menopause (something I’m uncomfortable mentioning and I’d rather know nothing about). Reviews of the company were nearly all negative and focused on Dr. Becker’s endorsement of the iRenew bracelet. This whole racket is so oily and disreputable it makes what to throw something at the television every time I see the commercial. To see more on the balance tests check out Tyler Tx Directory’s YouTube account where you’ll find further explanation.

What to do about Willie?

November 27th, 2010

What to do about Willie? And of course I’m referring to Willie Nelson. The iconic country singer was arrested in the west Texas town of Sierra Blanca, for what? Marijuana possession of course! The arrest took place Friday morning just over two weeks prior to his stop here in Tyler on December eleventh. Of course he posted a twenty- five hundred dollar bail and went on his way, but I doubt the incident will serve as any kind of wake- up call for the seventy seven year old musician.

The arrest brought a lot of criticism to our state, by readers and bloggers, who found Nelson’s arrest ridiculous and harassing. It’s my guess they must have been California readers. Look I’ll admit I’m torn. Telling Willie not to smoke pot is akin to telling a Kennedy to remain monogamous. It’s really for the best, but will he do it? Please… I have this vision of the country legend lighting up about a mile down the road from the police station after his release. That may be cynical, but it’s also very possible.

So what to do with Willie? According the article I read his arrest took place about nine in the morning when the office in question smelled smoke coming off the bus. Of course that particular bus is probably so saturated that the relatively uninitiated like myself, could get high on the preexisting fumes. Listen California. Please allow me to explain since many of you don’t seem to understand. We Texans are very much into personal liberties like keeping what we make, living where we want or protecting ourselves, our families and what we own. We’re generally not comfortable with widespread chemical addiction. I know Austin… I know… but for the most part we are generally conservative folks.

In the case of Willie Nelson I suggest that he spend the majority of his time in an atmosphere that allows him to pursue his… hobbies and interests, and only really venture out for concert appearances etc. When outside the commune participating in those aforementioned activities is taking chances but those are his to take. Just don’t get mad at us if he lands in hot water from time to time.

This whole story and subsequent discussion, coincides with Mr. Nelson’s visit to Tyler, which is rapidly approaching. I actually really enjoy his music and would certainly attend the concert given the opportunity. Here’s to hoping he can stay out of trouble long enough make it here. Best Buy Day After Thanksgiving Day Sale, Black Friday Line

November 24th, 2010

For the last few years I see this line that develops outside of Best Buy each year because Best Buy offers some pretty ridiculous deals on game consoles, TV’s and other such items.

Well this year I happened to spot the very first person setting up his tent outside Best Buy for this sale.

Hi name is Jacob Johnson and I was able to talk to him for a little bit as well as a grand tour of his tent setup outside Best Buy.

He has a flat screen TV, gaming consoles, tethering devices to play video games with all his friends and family that are hanging out with him.

Best Buy in Tyler TX Black Friday Sale First in Line

He plans to break up his time in the tent in shifts with the rest of his family. Last year he was in line for the Best Buy black Friday sale but he was all the way back near Petsmart.

This year being first in line he will be able to get some amazing deals. Best Buy has been known to give TV’s, game consoles, laptops and other high priced items away for $25 – $50 bucks that may originally go for $500 – $1500.

Jacob plans to spend about $2500 and likes getting in line at Best Buy because of the orderly way the store employees let people come in.

Each person in line ends up getting a number and certain rules are in place to prevent mob like behavior during the holidays from erupting.

I remember when mom’s, dad’s, grandmothers and others would fight to the death over cabbage patch kid dolls back when I was a kid.

I am thankful that my parents never bought me a doll like this as a kid but instead gave me GI Joes and Heman figures.

Let’s all hope and pray that this black Friday in Tyler Texas is safe for everyone and offers an orderly fair and safe way to purchase amazing deals at places like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Sears, Game Stop, the Mall and other great shopping centers in Tyler.
