Chuck E Cheese Birthday

January 31st, 2011

Chuck E Cheese Tyler TexasA room of a dozen three year old children is stressful in the first place but when you put a dozen three year old children in an extremely loud and crowded restaurant and throw a giant mouse, bad pizza, and a few video games in the middle of the chaos, you get a Chuck E. Cheese birthday. I do not know what I was thinking when I had my little girl’s birthday there. I was not sure where I was going to do the party until due to Tyler unreliable January weather. When we decided to have the party indoors we called the restaurant and tried to get the package deal and reserve a table for the party. They said that they can not allow us to reserve a table so close to the party time, but they said to just come in and try to find an open table. We tried to come into the restaurant after the lunch rush but it was still really crowded. I wanted Chuck E. Cheese to come out and sing to my little girl for her birthday but they said that he will not come out and sing happy birthday unless we bought a cake. I did not want to pay a lot of money for a cake with bad icing piled on top of the cake. I thought it was pretty ridiculous that they would not go sing to a toddler.

I really recommend not having a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese if you can not reserve the package deals. If you do reserve the package deals, be prepared to have an extremely loud party that you can not hear yourself think no less have any conversation with any of your guests. The waiter and waitresses come out and sing to about six or seven kids at the same time. You might end up sharing a table with another kid’s birthday party. The chaos is too much to handle. After your kids have danced with Chuck E. Cheese and ran around the table a few times, you can let them loose through the restaurant and allow them play video games to their heart content. The video game area can be so crowded, when I bring my children there I feel like I am watching them like a hawk. The rule of Chuck E. Cheese is that you are suppose to get your hand stamped when you walk through the door, the stamp on your hand is suppose to match the stamp on the hand of all the children that came with you. Last time I went there I walked in and they did not stamp my hand and my daughter did. When I walked out they asked to see my hand and I just said that I did not get my hand stamped and he just let us out. I was glad that I was able to leave with my child but I was thinking in the bad of my mind if they would of checked stamps if my kids were walking out with someone else.

It is true that children love this restaurant. It is like a gambling hall for kids. They spend the twenty five cent token to win three tickets that are worth a penny each. At the end of the day parents spend fifty dollars on tokens so that their kids can bring home a two dollar toy. Kids do not see the fact that they are getting ripped off. They have fun playing the games and running away from their overwhelmed parents. I really do not like Chuck E. Cheese and will never again throw a birthday party there. It was days before I got rid of the pounding headache. It s fine to eat there during the week and allow your children to get their energy out, and have a fun day; but going during the busy weekends it is not really worth it.

Arizona Blocks Westboro Baptist Church

January 15th, 2011

What is it about the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) that always captures media attention? They are of course the “church,” (and I use the term beyond loosely) that we all love to hate. Personally every time I see these ghouls on television I marvel that people like this actually exist! They’re like caricatures of real Nazis from the nineteen thirties and forties only thankfully, significantly less intelligent. This past week they announced plans to picket the funerals of the six Arizona shooting victims, including the nine- year old little girl! Fortunately the state government moved quickly to protect the grieving families and prevent this inbred congregation from showing up. How is it that a group of people who presumably call themselves Christians can be so obsessed with death and destruction? What gospels are they reading? A peek at their vile website (something I don’t recommend by the way), reveals their hatred for everyone. They’re anti-Semitic, anti-White, anti-Black, anti-Hispanic, anti-Catholic, anti-gay, anti-Republican, anti-Democrat, anti-American, etc. etc…. Who do you support? The answer is of course no one, except maybe death itself. I’m racking my brain and I can’t think of any place in scripture where Christ treated anyone with this kind of cruelty… even the ones who killed him. Hey WBC, I’m not Baptist, but I am Christian, and I think I can speak for my Baptist friends and say “Change your conduct or change your name!”

The new Arizona law was signed into effect by Governor Jan Brewer on Tuesday. It passed both the state house and senate unanimously and went into effect immediately. The law of course could not address the extremist group directly but applies to all such protests. From what I understand the new law makes it illegal to picket or protest any funeral from within three hundred feet of the cemetery beginning an hour before and ending an hour after the service has concluded. I’m no attorney but this seems like a very reasonable guideline. It’s actually rather insulting that it’s even necessary. Who other than this group would want to protest a funeral for any reason? I would love to see other states including Texas follow suit with similar legislation. Perhaps this is a way we could protect the grieving families of lost soldiers. Until then we can continue to do what citizens of Tucson and other cities have done, namely surround the loved ones with signs and support… and real prayers.

Cinderbella’s Boutique

Tyler Texas Children's Clothing at Cinderbella's

Cinderbella's

3400 S Broadway Ave
Tyler Texas 75701
903 266 9162
hours: Mon-Sat 10 am – 5:30

This shop opened last year and is a delight to many a parent who loves to dress their little one in nice cute things but doesn’t always have the funds to buy them new.

This well laid out and spacious shop has an area in the back for good quality, gently used consigned goods and the rest of the store contains new items. Although this consignment store is fairly large already they will be moving into a much large facility close to where Lifeway Christian Bookstore used to be in the same shopping strip. This will give them much more room to offer many more children’s clothes they would like to have available for sale.

Many of the new items are hand made or have motifs which can be made to order. There are bows here too – just in case you are the sort of Mom who likes to have matching accessories for their child.

The thing that struck me immediately as I walked in the door was that this is a boutique for little girls. Sure there are items for boys too but this is the place for very girly girls!

It is a perfect place for grandmothers to buy cutsie outfits for their beloved little ones and a great place to buy that non essential but oh-so-lovely outfit or accessory for a friend who is expecting their first little girl. As I browsed, I could almost hear the exclamations of friends at a baby shower as gifts were unwrapped!

The thing that caught my eye, as a more practical person, was the shoes. Here you can buy new shoes which are excellent quality and really individual. The leather was so soft, I’m sure they would be perfect for little feet. There was a half price sale when I was shopping too so it didn’t seemed too expensive.

In the rear of the store are the consigned goods. These are definitely upscale too.

They are nicely arranged in size and gender so you can look through them without hassle.

The impression I got from this store was attention to detail. Not just in the type of clothes for sale but in the way everything was presented. The lady at the checkout was really helpful and I’m sure she loves what she does, which makes the whole shopping experience at Cinderbella’s a really nice one.

Target in Tyler Texas

January 4th, 2010

Target

I may be a little partial toward Target as I am writing this, because I love the Target shopping experience. When you go to Target you may not be get as good of a price as if you were shopping at Wal-Mart. I can be guaranteed to get great brand names and great quality. I am pretty frustrated that Tyler does not have a Target shopping center, and only one Target store.

Target has some of the cutest little children’s clothes. Although the baby/toddle boy clothes are very few, the boy clothes have a great and stylish selection. As the season change find all you need for this up and coming winter. Find great brand name for assurance that you are getting the best quality for your money.

Target has great selections of men’s clothes for whatever your taste is. No matter the style, Target has clothes for all events or just every day prices. Also look at for Target for great work and sporting shoes.

At some stores it seems impossible to find the style of clothing that you like in the right size, but at Target you can always find beautiful selections in your size. Target also has great designs when you are expecting. You can find maternity jackets as the weather begins to become cold and you can find cute maternity bathing suits for those extremely hot Texan days.

Though the infant boy’s clothes selection is pretty limited, Target has a rather large selection for a little girl. They have great prices and wonderful sales. Target in Tyler Texas also has brand names and beautiful styles for every season of the year. Target is a bit more expensive that its neighboring competition, Wal-Mart. Target has beautiful bedding, cribs, car seats, high chairs and anything else you could need to be ready to welcome your new baby into the world. As your kid grows find great selection for your young toddler, such as gates and a training potty. Look for the developmental toys for your young child and bedding to match your child’s themed room.

If you are expecting and love the Target baby brand names, register. Target makes the register easy and simple to read. Also out of town friends can look at your registry online and at other stores.

If your big wedding day is approaching, you can find all the needs for your new house! Wedding registry is also available online or in the store. You can find beautiful kitchen appliances. Make your first home as a married couple your own with tasteful furniture, beautiful lamps, mirrors, wall clocks and so much more. Make your bathroom show your designer tastes with Target’s large selection of bathroom appliances.

Check out the great collection on televisions, video games, movies and music. In my opinion you can always find better prices on televisions at Wal-Mart and Target selection in very limited. Though the television selection is very limited, the video selection is very organized and plentiful. So instead of going to other stores and digging elbow deep into a giant box of movies, walk through aisles and pick through the organized displays of new releases, oldies, family, and even television show seasons.

If you are clothes shopping at Target and start to feel a little hungry, Target sells snacks and some frozen meals. The Target in Tyler has very little food, so I don’t recommend doing your grocery shopping here. But you will be able to pick up all your household needs, such as dish and laundry soap, toilet paper, and diapers. Also you will be able to get all your bath soap and shampoo, and all and all brand names makeup.

So find all your wants and needs here at Target and be sure to get great quality and brand names. Even though the prices may not be as good as many of their competitor’s prices, but their quality and the neatness of the store makes the shopping experiences easy and enjoyable.
