Live Long and Prosper

February 28th, 2015

You didn’t have to be a Star Trek fan, or a Trekie as they’re often called, to know who Spock was. The famous character of Star Trek’s original series was an icon, and now, the actor, Leonard Nimoy who portrayed the Vulcan famous for his “Live Long and Prosper” sign is no longer with us as a he died Friday.

In 2014, Nimoy revealed that he was suffering chronic lung disease even though he had stopped smoking three decades ago, and less than two weeks before his death, he was taken to the hospital for severe chest pains.

Nimoy tweeted, “A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP.”
He certainly left many memories, especially with Treckies, whether it was the TV series or movies. Although his role as Spock is what Nimoy was most famous for, he also had other acting and directing roles.

Nimoy’s co-star, William Shatner, who played the role of Captain James T. Kirk, tweeted “I loved him like a brother. We will all miss his humor, his talent, and his capacity to love.”

Nimoy, who died at the age of 83, could have lived a little longer, but nonetheless, he certainly did live long and he definitely prospered.
