Irenew bracelet science is total BS, is this company Lawsuit worthy?

January 21st, 2011

So just last month the Power Balance bracelet company was sued in one of those class action lawsuits in CA courts.

Don’t you think it is only a matter of time before Irenew bracelet, wristband, necklace, hologram, and dog pendant company is also sued?

I was dumb enough to buy not only the bracelet but all that other stuff and the dog pendant.

So these things are marketed as if they can balance your body and other stuff. IRenew seems to like to use the word “promotes” the balance of your body.

Is “promote” another word for placebo effect?

Irenew has covered themselves well even further by saying, “it may promote” the balance of your body.

By saying “it may” do something gives them a whole lot of legal wiggle room.

If you havn’t seen the myth buster type videos on Youtube that explain how these wristband demonstrations really work then you ought to.

The balance demonstrations are stupid carnival tricks and have nothing to do with powers coming from the IRenew bracelet other than imaginery powers.

Church Arsonists Sentenced in East Texas

January 10th, 2011

Tyland Baptist ChurchUnless you’re living in a hole in the ground, you’ve probably already heard that church arsonists Jason Bourque, and Daniel McAllister, were sentenced by Judge Christi Kennedy of the 114th court.

Baroque was sentenced to five life sentences for his successful church burnings and another three, twenty year sentences for attempted arson. McAllister received two life sentences for successfully burning two churches, and two twenty year sentences for two counts of trying unsuccessfully to burn two other churches.

Several of the pastors whose churches were attacked by the pair were present at the sentencing to offer their forgiveness and prayers. I’ve been reading the posts by individuals angry at the sentences and the Judge who brought them! Some claimed they were far too harsh. Others that the church should forgive the young men and be glad no one was hurt.

To that I would respond that it was just a matter of time before someone was in fact killed due to the young men’s actions. And while I agree that the church collectively should and has forgiven the assailants, it’s the civil authorities who must protect the public.

Tyler Texas Church Arsonists SentencedAnd in actuality, many people were in fact hurt by the perps’ actions! Like it or not, church is a big part of the lives of many East Texans. We are baptized and confirmed in them. Married in them, and raise children in them. That’s a lot of memories, and a big part of our identity that cannot be completely restored once it’s taken away.

Clearly these are very troubled young men, but the facts of their ages, and their motivation doesn’t really matter, except in proving guilt or innocence. I’m not really interested in why they burned those churches. I’m only interested in preventing them from burning any more, particularly mine!

There is certainly a place and a need for forgiveness, but contrition shouldn’t remove the consequences. I hope Bourque and McAllister get the help they need.

And I hope that they will encounter a chaplain who can help open their minds and help to make them receptive to the faith they persecuted. But it must be in the context of facing the consequences of their actions.

Christian Science Church Tyler Burned Down Today

January 17th, 2010

Christian Science Church 1st Address and Phone Number

Church of Christ Scientist Tyler

(903) 592-0462
106 E Second St
Tyler, TX 75701

Today represents the 7th church in East Texas to be burned to the ground by arsonists. According to sources the Christian Science church in Tyler TX near Bergfeld Park was burned down. This church is also known as Church of Christ Scientist. These church burnings are being intentionally burned down by pyro freaks who seem to get a kick out of the news stories and publicity surrounding the burnings. The problem is their motivation is what will eventually nab them. An arsonist has a twisted point of view in thinking that they will not get caught. With this many church burnings in Tyler and East Texas you will find a heightened level of security and surveillance at many churches throughout the area.

Neighbors and citizens of Tyler Texas are now on the watch for any suspicious activity around a church, especially at night. The fact that the Christian Science church was burned down in the early hours of the evening tonight proves just how invincible these people must think they are at being caught.

Our pastor has made the point that what these arsonists do not realize is that Christian people in the city of Tyler will be praying for the hearts and minds of these arsonists. God will eventually get a hold of these people’s spiritual corrupt state and hopefully turn them around to the saving faith in Jesus Christ.  Our pastor encourages local Christian believers to pray for these people and for the churches that have been the victims of these crimes.

Christian Science Church is only the latest in these wave of East Texas church burnings. It is only a matter of time until these people are caught. I really think that these people are probably teenagers and may even be intelligent people but with just a twisted spiritual and mental state which causes them to make really bizarre and evil choices. Tyler is filled with churches almost on every street corner which is why we are considered the heart of the Bible belt. I encourage everyone to be on the lookout and feel free to leave a comment if you see anything suspicious or know anything about who these people might be.

The people who burnt down Christian Science Church in Tyler probably have a motive that revolves around the notion that there are a lot of churches in town. Because Tyler has so many churches it may seem to be an obvious target for someone as twisted as these people are. I assume they are going after the attention that a stunt like this would cause because so many people are affected when a church is burnt to the ground.

If we all work together in the city of Tyler we can quickly put a stop to these people and bring upon them swift justice.

Here’s a listing of the 7 churches of East Texas to have burned so far… (1) Lake Athens Baptist Church, (2) Grace Community Church Athens, (3) Faith Church Athens, (4) Little Hope Baptist Church, (5) a church in Martin’s Mill, (6) Tyland Baptist Church Tyler, and (7) Church of Christ Scientist Tyler. All of these since January 1st 2010… Please pray!

The Weather in Tyler, Texas

January 14th, 2010

Growing up in Colombia, South America we always dreamt of snow. In fact, we used to dress leafless trees for Christmas, with cotton, simulating snow. In Colombia, snow is foreign to the people that live in the cities and many have never seen it fall. To see snow, you have to go to the top of the tallest mountains. The weather is always the same depending on the altitude of the city in which you live. The fact is that people somewhat have a desire of experiencing the four seasons of the year.

My family and I also lived in Waterloo, Iowa for 10 years and could see the dread of winter on the faces of people, especially those who grew up there. Winter is long and the warm months are short. You need to love the cold and snow to live up there.

We’ve been living in Tyler, Texas on and off for the past 20 years and something that I appreciate about the weather here in Tyler is to be able to enjoy and experience all the seasons that are somewhat balanced. It does not matter what time of the year it is, you can still go outside and work or enjoy walking or playing, and at the same time enjoy the changes of the seasons that nature has to offer. Something that we enjoy is seeing the green everywhere, combined with the beautiful colors of the flowers in the spring.

Tyler also has the multicolor change of the leaves of the trees in autumn. When our friends from New Mexico come to visit, they are always impressed by the beauty of the colors.

Like every place, it has its pros and cons. The summers in Tyler and east Texas could be a little harsh. Heat and humidity can make someone that is coming from a dryer place, run away. Nevertheless, it is a matter of time before someone can adapt to the humidity. I don’t know how people survived the heat before air conditioning was invented because summer, especially in the months of July and August, is unbearable. Apart from those two months, I think the weather of the rest of the year is amazing. I must say that this year, winter has been colder than normal but the good news is that it has been short lived.

Something that always makes my wife nervous is the tornados. She is originally from New Mexico and tornados are seldom ever seen in that part of the country. We have never experienced one, even though they were common in Iowa and frequently experienced here in Texas. They have come close to us and we have had to go to storm shelters on many occasions. In all of the years we have been in and out of Texas, we have not experienced anything like one and hope we never will.

In general, Tyler and east Texas have very nice, balanced weather that encourages and invites people to stay. It is combined with the friendly faces of its people which we have happily experienced for many years already.
