Hairy New Rules

Beards in Brookshires

Beards in Brookshires

While shopping at Brookshire’s Grocery Stores you may have noticed something different about the workers there? They are all hairy! New rules have been put in place at all the Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods stores. All staff is allowed to have facial hair. There are still some pretty strict rules on how their employees groom themselves. Their rules include not allowing their employees to grow a full beard.

I really do not know how to feel about these new rules. Personally I do not really care if my cashier has a go-tee, or if the kid carrying my bags to my car has a peach fuzz mustache. The only thing that some what bothers me is the people that are handling my food. I do not want to open up my perfectly wrapped sandwich meat and find little hairs from some random guy’s chin. I, personally, think that if you are handling food that there should be stricter rules about facial hair.

These new rules are very interesting and I know that many of the employees are very excited about the freedom of their own grooming, but there is something unappealing about someone with ill groomed facial hair handling my food.

The New Mommy and Me

September 19th, 2010

The consignment store Mommy and Me in Tyler Texas has moved to a new location. Before they moved their store was really small and was unable to keep all the clothes organize in the store, and many times had to set up a lot of their clothes outside. Although they had their boy’s clothes separated from their girl’s clothes. It was hard to find what you were looking for. In the old location, Mommy and Me was tucked on the side of a building that you could not really see it from the road, it was easy to drive right past it.

The new location (which was formally California Girl) makes the store easier to find. Even though the location have moved and the store is larger, it has not changed the clothes they sale. When you are shopping at Mommy and Me you really have to make sure there are not any stains or rips in the clothes. I understand that they clothes that they sale are all used clothes and are resold at their store, but I think that they should have a smaller selection of clothing that are in better shape. It is hard to dig through clothes that are all stained to find the one outfit that is the right size and clean.

It is harder to find good clothes for infants, because most of the clothes are not in very good shape, but they are sold at great prices. Their little boy’s selection is really small most of the time. Their selections do vary so you can always find something new when you return. Mommy and Me does have a better selection for girls from sizes 18months-3T (which is great for me since I shop for those sizes).

Selling your used clothes at a consignment store is a great way to put a little extra cash in your pocket especially because kids grow so fast and only wear one size for a few months. The people that work and own Mommy and Me are great to work with and are really nice.

I think that it is worth going to Mommy and Me. Even though you have to dig to find what you are looking for, it is possible for you to find something in good shape for a great price. Shopping here is sort of a like a treasure hunt, which can be fun but frustrating at the same time.

Pawn Shops

April 6th, 2010

Doesn’t everyone wish they did not have to wait for a warm sunny day to go garage sale shopping? Well you can with the large amounts of Tyler’s pawn shops. Where else can you find VHS players, personal loans in Tyler and a Spice Girls cassette?

Tyler’s A-1 pawn shop has all your junk loving needs. If you are looking for a giant glass owl to put in your garden or a dial television, you can always find interesting things here. Tyler has many different Pawn shops through out the city. A-1 is a family run store, like many pawn shops. The service is extremely helpful and kind. If you have jewelry that needs to be sized, guns that need to be cleaned or junk laying around the house that needs to be sold, pawn shops are a great place to deal with your business.

There are pawn shops dedicated to the gun lovers out there. Mac’s Gun Shop, Inc. has a great selection of all types of shotguns and handguns. Most gun stores along with Mac’s Gun Shop sale and buy guns and ammo.

I don’t really have the love of pawn shop shopping. I do not need a faded pink tricycle or an old flowery lamp. But I can see the fun of digging through junk to find one small treasure that might actually look good in your house. Tyler has a great selection of stores like A-1 and Mac’s Gun Shop, Inc. in which you can find great selections of junk for every room for great prices.
