Lens Crafters in the Broadway mall

March 12th, 2011

Lens Crafters in the Broadway mall is a great place to buy your next pair of glasses. Choosing a new pair of glasses for yourself can be an intimidating process. You’re basically picking a new face and in a way a new identity. That is why it can be so vital to get the exact pair of glasses you feel are right for your style and face shape.

Lens Crafters offers more options than any other glasses retailer in Tyler and with the funding of national corporation it’s no surprise. Lens Crafters can easily afford to supply major brand names and also has the awareness to choose popular and emerging contemporary styles.

Most frame retailers in Tyler have a very limited selection of eye wear, they tend to accommodate a specific demographic of customer that more commonly buys glasses, I speak, of course of the elderly.

The intersection in style between the elderly and the young is practically non existent. This raises a dilemma for people looking to get some glasses with a more modern or individual look in mind. Lens Crafters meets the dilemma of frame choice head on, providing a great number of stylish choices including the ever popular Ray Ban frames.

Even if you prefer the look of a sunglass frames for your next pair of prescriptions simply request your regular prescription be put in and they will be happy to fulfil this wish. If you’re lucky Lens Crafters does occasionally have a worthwhile sale, even recently taking fifty percent off your lenses with the purchase of new frames.

One wonderful thing about Lens Crafters is the efficiency, their famous one hour assembly is a true luxury if you are eager for glasses and costs you nothing extra. The sales staff are also extremely bearable, many sales people can be over bearing and annoying, it takes a skilled people person to encourage a choice without pressuring the customer.

The employees at Lens Crafters are more than graceful in their approach, and extremely polite and willing when it comes to glasses repair and maintenance. One more benefit to using Lens Crafters is the thirty day trial period with any pair of glasses, if you aren’t completely satisfied with your new glasses you have for thirty days the option to exchange them for any other pair at no additional cost.

Essentialy Lens Crafters takes all the worry and pain out of choosing and buying  your new glasses. Although glasses are a high priced expense, it is hard to overcome the obstacle of price, however Lens Crafters has certainly done their best to cut down the eye wear bill and make it fast, easy and relatively inexpensive to get new glasses fast.

Medicaid Drug Tests?

January 31st, 2011

To no one’s surprise, a new rumor started on Facebook. It did not take long for the status that read “Kentucky just passed a great law. To be eligible for food stamps, Medicaid, or cash assistance for your children or yourself, you have to pass a DRUG test. Now every other state should do the same! If you agree re-post.” to flood my Facebook home page. After I did some investigation (mainly just looked at snopes.com) I found that no such law had passed, but this law has been proposed to the Kentucky state legislature’s House of Representatives. The proposed bill states that once a year anyone who is eligible and applies for government living assistance will have a drug test once a year. After I read about this bill I wondered why this has not passed and why the state of Texas has not thought of this.

I think that Medicaid is a great thing. I am not on insurance and there is no way I could pay the bills if something happened to me or my children. I have been on pregnancy Medicaid with two of my pregnancies. When you are on Medicaid you are asked if you have or do use illegal drugs, and you talk to a social worker, but they just mark down what you say without testing you. The drug test would be helpful in this situation, not only as reliable source of the situation that this child will be brought into, but also this can show doctors the proper treatments to give to these pregnant women.

The purpose of cash assistance is to help people in desperate situations get back on their feet. While on the cash assistant programs they require that each person applies for jobs on a regular basis. Well if they did a drug test before people are accepted for the cash assistance the program would know whether they would even be hired, since most jobs require a drug test.

I think that it would be great if it was true if the rumors were true, and if at least one state would start doing drug tests to be allowed to even apply for government assistance. Many of these government assistance programs work along side of Child Protection Services; you would think that these programs would want to know the situation of the home in more detail than what the parents write on the application. I have nothing against people getting on government assistance and I understand that people run into hard times, but it bothers me that people take advantage of these services. Texas really needs to do something different when it comes to applying for these services and I think a drug test would be a great new law.

East Texas and Patent Trolling

East Texas Patent Troll

East Texas Patent Troll

Over the last few years, East Texas has become one of the most popular spots in the country for patent trolls and others seeking an almost sure win for a patent or copyright infringement case. The district court in East Texas is pretty well known for siding with plaintiffs in patent cases. Traditionally, patent trolls hire specialized patent lawyers to fight their battles for them and to seek out companies or other entities that hold patents they could buy and capitalize on.

So, what do patent trolls do? These companies that are called patent trolls buy up patents from other companies and then hire lawyers to prove infringement. In some cases, lawyers have simply become patent trolls individually thanks to the almost guaranteed or not-so-guaranteed depending on how you look at it payout, especially if you wind up in an East Texas court room. These companies could care less about the patents themselves or the products that could be made from them. Instead, they are simply after the money that they stand to earn by settling a lawsuit out of court.

With such a lenient court system or maybe not when looking further into it, iis it a surprise that Tyler and East Texas houses plenty of patent trolls and has for the last decade or so. Sadly, the companies that have to defend themselves from patent trolls stand to lose the most during a court case. For this reason, these companies instead settle outside of court with the patent troll. In many cases, this was all the patent troll wanted.

Living Acts Church – Tyler

January 12th, 2010

Living Acts Church is located in Tyler, Texas by Toys ‘R’ US right next door to where Dance and Drill is. It is a church that is fairly new but with people that love the Lord Jesus. I have only been there two times so far, but I can honestly tell you that it was a blessing for me. You can tell right off the bat that the people there are friendly and very welcoming and enjoy having new people.

The pastor is great and speaks straight out of God’s word. He does not preach to please people but to please God. I have heard him say some things that I knew were hard things to hear but still he said it because he loves his congregation and wants his church to grow and mature in the knowledge and love God.

Here are some of the things that I heard and that really opened up my eyes and mind to new things and thoughts of who Christ is. They believe that the gospel that is set before us is good and it’s God’s words that decides the standard of right and wrong and is not what we think it should be. They believe that we are supposed to hate evil and love good and live a Spirit filled life so we can be the fragrance of the gospel.

There is so much more I could say but I won’t spoil the surprise of you going to their website or location to find out for yourself. I know that finding a church you like and suits your family is hard to find and by no means am I saying that this is the only church that God would have for you and your family. I am just allowing you to know my experience I have had with them so far.

I have visited several churches big and small and so far I loved what I have seen there. Besides the preaching being so good the worship is also great. It’s not big, just two people praising God.  I don’t think it matters how many people you have up front the thing that matters is that they love the Lord and want to worship Him.

They also have a place where your children will be taken care of while you are in the church service. It is not a large church in Tyler at all but that is what I liked most about it. Like I said before there is only so much I could say about this church and the rest requires for you to check it out. I think the best suggestion is to go to their website and visit them on a Sunday morning for morning church service.

There website offers information regarding everything you might want to know about their church, their mission, their beliefs and much more. If you are looking for a place to call home you should visit this church and see if it is the place God will have you and your family join or at least visit for awhile until God shows you the next step.

Waiter Surprise

November 10th, 2009

In the past I have written about my Olive Garden experiences, but because of my most recent visit to the well-know Italian restaurant I feel a need to re-write about the popular hotspot. I never really was very impressed with the moderate service that I endured.

This past week I was dining with my husband when a young man approached our table. He introduced himself to us and offered us a delicious wine, which we probably never would have ordered if he had not offered the small sample. Many times when I have eaten at Olive Garden I have had no idea what to order so I just order the usual. Even if I ask the waiter what they recommend, usually they just look at me like I have asked the most complicated question. But our waiter, Shaun, knew just what to order. I was impressed at his recommendations.

My drink was never empty, the delicious food was quickly delivered to our table, even though he had many other tables to tend to, our waiter never left us waiting on anything. Service is one of the most important things when going out to eat. Even if the food is great, I would not return to a restaurant if I have had terrible service. I was waiting for him to do something wrong so that I would not have to leave a large tip. My drink was almost empty, but the very moment that I drank the last sip of my glass he set down another drink.

I would not be writing this if it was not for my impression that a waiter actually did his job and much more. Next time I am dinning at Olive Garden I will wait the extra time just to be seated in Shaun’s section.
