Weird Vehicle Traveling by the weather station and Chili’s

April 26th, 2011

Tornado Tracker Vehicle perhaps?
My brother was able to get a good picture of this weird looking vehicle driving through Tyler Texas. It isn’t a hummer but looking at the weird pipes sticking out of it I would say maybe it is a storm chaser vehicle that chases tornado’s?

There is also a 360 window view at the top of it but I can’t seem to find any holes for a military gun which makes me think it is a storm chaser?

I really have no clue what it is but does look like a mixture between a dually truck and a hummer of some kind but the answer still alludes me.

Later on during the day Tyler Texas and surrounding areas were deluged with quite a few tornados. Tyler Junior College (TJC) had several buildings destroyed by a tornado and UT Tyler was hit too.

Robert D. Burnett DDS

Teeth Whitening Tyler Texas

210 E 5th St
Tyler, TX 75701-4223
(903) 597-7721

Robert D. Burnett DDS FA is located at 210 E. Fifth Street, Tyler, Texas 75701 If you are looking for a good dentist that is located in Tyler, then I strongly would advise you to try them. They are very professional, but most important care about the needs of the patient. I first heard about Dr. Burnett through my neighbor who goes to Glenwood church of Christ. I was in pain and did not have the funds necessary to fix my problems. I had mentioned my friends that I was in pain and was looking for someone who could help me. They told me they have a dentist at their church who might be able to help me. The next thing I knew is I had an appointment to go see a dentist.

When I went there I was planning on pulling the tooth that was giving me problems, because I had had another dentist who looked at my teeth and said that I needed root canals for these teeth or pulled. But when Dr. Burnett took a look at my teeth he told me he could fix it for me without having to pull it or a root canal. To my amazement I was shocked, I was about to get one of my teeth pulled because I had no money to do a root canal and another dentist told me its the way to go. For the same price that it would have cost me to get the tooth pulled, he was able to fix the cavity and save my tooth. One of his main concerns for me was to make sure he kept my tooth in place if he could at all.

Finding a good dentist is usually an easy task as most people are referred to a dentist by someone they know living in Tyler Texas. For those relocating to Tyler who don’t really know anyone who can refer you to a dentist it helps to find a business directory like this. I personally use Dr. Hammond in South Tyler for general dentistry. I am happy to refer others to him and you just have no clue as he does an excellent job.

If you need more of a cosmetic dentistry referral I recommend first trying a good teeth whitening system. Funny as it may be the Kardashian Sisters recommend a great teeth whitening product and there is a free trial offer with it. Click below to learn more.
I was so glad to see that there are still dentists out there who don’t just want to rip you off and say that you need the most expensive thing done just so they can have more money. I am glad I got a second opinion and God provided someone who was willing to go the extra mile and help someone out. Dr. Burnett has been able to save several of my teeth which means he saved me lots of money along with my teeth. This took place about 6 weeks ago and I do not have pain at this time. They were willing to work with my financial situation which has enabled me to just about get them paid off.

Dr. Burnett was so kind in doing the procedures. Anytime I was in pain, he would stop and make sure I was numb enough to finish the work. He was very gentle when giving the shots in my gum. I am always afraid before, but later on I realized it was not that bad. It was worth a little pain to get all the teeth taken care of, and get rid of the throbbing pain I had previously. Unfortunately I waited too long to take care of my dental needs, but you don’t have to.

If you go every six months to have them cleaned like you should, then you won’t suddenly have pain and need to pay more than what you should. If you make regular visits to the dentist it will run around $100-$150. If you put things off, then it will cost hundreds of dollars later from the fact that you did not go when it was time. Not worth doing things the wrong way thinking you save money by not going at all. Teeth are very important to us and require care in order to last. Trust me I am learning my lesson the hard way.

Dr. Burnett is amazing and worth the time and money. You can tell he cares for you. His office can help you with all your dental needs. They do have a card that you can apply to help you with your needs. Most dentist offices take a credit card that is specifically designed for your health needs. Going to their website will tell you more about their offers and the office times. Check them out, I am sure you will like them as much as I do.

Peking Chinese Restaurant

August 31st, 2009

Growing up in Tyler, I became quite an expert on Chinese cuisine by visiting the various buffets that come and go in town regularly; which is to say I knew nothing! Over the years I have waited tables at a good Asian restaurant, as well as lived in larger cities with more to offer in the way of genuinely good eastern cuisine, both dine in and take out. While I confess to occasionally visiting a buffet, Chinese food is so much better when eaten hot and fresh as opposed to off a bar under heat lamps. For those who remain undeterred devotees of buffets, I’ll list a few of my personal favs and explain why they are on that rather short list in another article.

I recall working the lunch shift at a Chinese restaurant as a young man, and looking forward to the three o’clock break when the kitchen crew would cook up an authentic Chinese lunch for themselves and the wait staff. Of course nothing they cooked could be found on the menu. It was more like what they would have eaten in their own kitchens in the old world and thus far more authentic, hot and delicious. When it comes to good, fresh, inexpensive Chinese takeout, Tyler has one particular establishment that more people should know about.

Peking Chinese Restaurant is located at 1021 East Fifth (appropriately enough) just up from Tyler Junior College.  A trip to Peking reminds me of my own college days, as well as the places my brother and I used to frequent during my time teaching in St Paul. While its not five star dining, it is classic takeout and far, far better than the buffets which are so popular around town. They carry all the usual menu items, (all of which are delicious by the way), and most patrons will leave the restaurant full for under ten dollars.

While Texas will never be famous for its Asian food since it’s obviously not native, Peking does bring to Tyler a bit of big city fare. So here’s to hoping that Tylerites will take a clue from area college students who spend their late nights sitting in corner of Peking cramming for the next morning’s exam. Skip the buffets with their hours old food warming beneath their heat lamps and try some genuine brain food. By the way, the phone number is (903)526-5208. I suggest calling ahead if you intend to pick it up and go.
