Do HCG Hormone Shots Work?

November 30th, 2010

Pregnancy Hormone Weight LossLadies and gentlemen don’t let the Brad Childress/Wade Phillips effect sneak into your dieting and weight loss game. Both Childress and Phillips are each former head coaches of two high profile NFL teams, with an emphasis on “former”. Their relation to our weight loss plans goes like this.

B Ki Weight Loss in Tyler Texas

As head coaches of the Minnesota Vikings, Childress, and the Dallas Cowboys, Phillips, it became obvious to the general public and most sport experts that each coach needed to be let go about two weeks before team owners went ahead and pulled the trigger.

Granted that their much more successful previous seasons commanded some respect the basic issue was this: it’s not working! When it comes to seeking out the best method for weight loss we are bombarded by one easy-to do-quick-fix after another.

And guess what? THEY DON’T WORK! Take the HCG hormone injections for example.  HCG, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, is a hormone that is released by pregnant women that burns “abnormal” fat in the stomach, buttock, and leg areas.

This method maintains that the injection of HCG boosts the metabolism in a normal individual as it would naturally during a women’s pregnancy and burns these “abnormal” fat areas, claiming up to 1-3 lbs. loss daily.

As some experts have tested this methodology they have found almost no real weight loss due to the injections and we can assume that the loss of 1-3 lbs. daily is due more to the 500-800 calorie a day diet partnered with this weight loss plan than the drug itself.

So, people, when it comes to your game plan for losing those extra pounds after these holiday seasons don’t hold on to your “Childress/Phillips” diet scheme when everyone else knows it’s not working!

Jason Garrett the new head coach for the Dallas Cowboys

November 8th, 2010
Dallas Cowboys Head Coach

Dallas Cowboys Head Coach

Jason Garrett is now the new head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Keep in mind he has been a star offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys for many years.

He gave up several NFL team head coach offers to remain offensive coordinator.

Now that Jason is head coach it should make for some very interesting conversations as this has been a “what if” scenario for some time.

If Jason proves to do what many think he can he will finally settle the debate about whether he has what it takes to make the Cowboys into a great team.

I think this change will be good for the Dallas Cowboys and will give people another readon to continue their interest in watching the Cowboys try and change things around.

Opening times – Mon-Fri 9am-8pm
Saturday 9 until 6pm and Sunday 12-5pm

Sports Clips is a hair salon just for guys (and boys) located in Lindale in a strip mall behind KFC near the Walmart. There are also 2 locations in Tyler and many more nationwide.

My husband uses Sports Clips every time and sometimes we take our son – aged 7. My husband hates having his haircut but this place makes it quite bearable. Firstly it’s very casual – you don’t need an appointment, you just show up whenever you feel like it and sign in for the next available haircutter. This does mean that you can’t get the same stylist – but most men don’t mind about that – they just want the job done!

Secondly, you don’t have to make small talk with the person cutting your hair. There are TVs playing sport all the time and it is quite OK to sit in silence and watch whatever is showing. This is a bonus for men – even those who don’t like sport! Thirdly the opening times are convenient – you can go after work or at the weekend for a cut and they are pretty speedy about it.

Our Sports Clips is well lit, warm and has a casual atmosphere with sports memorabilia on the walls from our local school team, the Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys and Aggies – to cover all the bases! They also sell Nioxin and Paul Mitchell hair products but there is no pressure to buy.

The haircuts have always been fairly good – it is quite busy in there so I guess the stylists get lots of practice – and how difficult can ‘short back and sides’ really be?

There are 3 choices of service available. A ‘Varsity’ haircut is the quickest and least expensive, the ‘Triple Play’ includes a shampoo and steamed towel as well as a haircut and the ‘MVP’ is the most indulgent service with conditioner, steamed towel, and a 5 minute neck and shoulder massage. If you choose this one you are able to come in between cuts and get those stray hairs on your neck trimmed for free.

My son has the Junior Varsity cut – which is quick and simple and costs just $14.

A final thing to note about Sports Clips is that there is a reward card system, sometimes there are special offers – watch the local newspaper- and best of all, you can sign up for a free haircut during the month of your birthday. It is easy to see why Sports Clips is popular and why this franchise is growing so rapidly in the US. Personally I wouldn’t trade my long term relationship with my friendly hairdresser for the world – I trust her and enjoy my pampering mornings at her salon, but I can see why Sports Clips is perfect for a man!

National Politics and Local Coverage

January 8th, 2010

Found at 600 on the AM radio dial, KTBB has been broadcasting to East Texas for many, many years. They carry a complete line-up of national talk radio programs. The daily routine features the three biggest personalities on the radio today, from Fox News personality Glen Beck in the morning, to famed political commentator Rush Limbaugh from 11:00 until 2:00, to another Fox News host Sean Hannity in the afternoon. KTBB 600 AM also has play by play Dallas Cowboys football. If your in or around the Tyler and East Texas area and need to hear the Cowboys football game than 600 AM should work.

As expected the Tyler Texas radio station’s views tend to the conservative side politically. Even the community affairs discussions seem to reflect a sort of common sense view of area news. While this may annoy the more progressive or liberal among us, the station does mirror the predominate views of East Texans.

The station also does a great job of keeping Tyler updated on local emergencies. If you rely on satellite for television service, you know how frustrating it can be to lose your signal in the middle of storm coverage. KTBB is a great back up for keeping ear out for those ever changing Texas weather patterns.

But KTBB is not longer confined to the AM dial. You can find local news weather and sports on 92.1 FM. Tyler favorite, David Smoak keeps us updated on the world of sports. “Smoaky,” broadcasts during the afternoon drive time and has become an institution in East Texas radio.

So if you like common sense, conservative politics, and your local news and events up to the minute, tune into KTBB 600 AM, or 92.1, whether at home, in the car, or at work. You’ll find you are both entertained and informed. See also http://www.ktbb.com
