Marshalls in Tyler Texas

July 6th, 2010

Marshalls sells top brand clothes at low end prices. In the commercials a sales woman had trouble with the language barrier and orders a thousands shirts instead of a hundred. Marshals buys the extra clothes at a low price and resell them cheap.

Marshalls in Tyler is a lot like another store I shop at here in Tyler, Ross. Though Ross’s women’s clothing selection is larger, Marshalls is a lot cleaner and it is easier to find what you are looking for. The women clothing section is not as large as many stores in the Tyler area, but they always have new selections and great prices. They also have a large selection of purses that are mainly leather. Not liking leather I am not a fan of Marshalls’s selection.

I really like the children’s clothing section in this store because the sizes are in order and there are not a ton of clothes on the floor. Marshalls prices are great! The prices are probably the thing I like the most about this store. Little children grow so fast, it seems like an outfit can fit my children for about six months then I am getting rid of it. It is easy to blow money on your children’s clothes, Marshalls helps with this by offering both quantity and quality at great prices.

Like Tyler’s store Ross, Marshalls has a pretty big shoe department; but unlike Ross you do not have to dig through the shoes on the floor to find a match. Marshalls has a great selection of brand name shoes like Skechers. It is so much easier to shop when you do not have to search the whole store for the left match to a pair of shoes.

The store has a great selection of wall décor, frames, mirrors, and furniture. I always like to look at the trunks at the store. Some times they have the prettiest art work, and iron wall décor.

Marshalls is much cleaner than other stores in Tyler, but you may not be able to have as much of a selection, but each piece of clothing is designer pieces. You can redecorate your house and get new furniture at the lowest price possible.

Rega of Paris

Rega of Paris

6722 S Broadway
Tyler TX
75703
903 561 1705
www.regaofparis.com

Rega of Paris is a furniture consignment store in South Tyler (in the shopping area opposite Target and behind Don’s)
I first visited there when we moved here and we needed basic furniture to fill our house but I still go there occasionally now as it is such a great place to shop and you can find all sorts of nice quality and unique items for the home there.

Rega is a more upscale consignment store and has antiques as well as good quality furniture. They also consign smaller items like crockery, art work and bits and pieces for the home.

The owners will manage estate sales for you and will pick up (and deliver) items you buy or consign for a small fee. Sellers get just 50% of the selling price but as Rega is a popular shop the chance that your item will hang around unsold for long is pretty unlikely – so you will get your money fast.

The inventory changes regularly at Rega as there seems to be a fast turnover of goods. They even have a website where you can view the new arrivals and this is updated fairly frequently.

I am not usually a fan of second hand furniture stores (it fills me with visions of old folk and the smell of cat pee!) but Rega is very different. They only take the nicest pieces of furniture in good clean condition. Having had a few bad experiences with cheap furniture I now think it is better to buy something of better quality and style second hand than risk having something that falls apart after a year or so.

Rega of Paris is open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am – 5.30pm

A Better Way To Get Coffee

January 8th, 2010

Few stores have genuine quaintness, quaintness is an elusive gem, sought after by struggling middle aged small business women everywhere, almost as if it took precedent over any actual business concern. They look up to the Hallmark store as a mentor imitating it’s tiny porcelain bears and potpourri fumigation but nay, for true quaintness escapes them all, for you cannot make quaintness, but it must come to you, as the product of the secret quaint inside every person. When you step into Brady’s Coffee it is immediately obvious that Mr. Brady has much more quaint than he knows what to do with. While soft Celtic hymns play in the background I notice several old men taking turns harassing each other with stories of farm equipment and shouting nonsensical but unmistakably friendly greetings to the friends of theirs just arriving for the day.
.
Lining the walls of the store are large glass jars filled with a variety of different coffees and teas. Above the jars hangs local art work, a lot of it belonging to one of the elderly regulars sitting at the table, ready to tell you which he likes best. Ordering coffee is a lot more like having a short conversation about coffee and then getting what you had just been talking about.

Also, while ordering I suggest trying to get a glimpse of the Lego castles sitting on the shelves in the back, an extremely innovative move by Brady in raising his stores level of quaintness in a subtle but appropriately masculine way. Brady’s coffee shop in Tyler epitomizes the idea of the local business. It has a loyal following and an atmosphere that’s something different than the sudo hipster and soccer mom seen you’ll find at Starbucks. Brady is doing what he loves in a way that he loves it, with surroundings that describe very well his own personality. But why settle on the surroundings when his actual personality is there waiting to serve you coffee.

When you walk into the store I highly recommend to double check everything you purchase because they put breakable things on the end of the shelf and put to many things on the each shelf that are very close to each other, which makes it easy to knock things over and break things. And this can be really frustrating. But Hobby Lobby has does have really stuff to decorate your house, like candles, cushions, picture frames, and great pictures and paintings.
