Brookshires in Tyler Texas

This family-friendly Christian owned and operated grocery store in the center of the popular shopping area in Tyler is a delight to shop at.

As you walk into the store you will be surprised at the quality and variety of fruit and vegetables on sale. Much of the produce available is organic and grown locally too. Look out for samples of their seasonal items.

Before you start to shop you might want to treat yourself to a gourmet coffee – sold just inside the door on the left at the coffee bar. You will notice that there are many who take advantage of the little cafe area there too. If you have time you could stop and drink your coffee while you look at the weekly paper containing details of the latest special offers at Brookshires. Of particular note is the meat section -they have the most amazing deals on particular cuts of meat and these offers change weekly.

Continue on through the store stopping perhaps at the excellent delicatessen or the bakery section where you can buy delicious breads of all sorts of types and containing healthy grains, baked in store. The meat section is very good too and the seafood is one of the best in a supermarket around here.

As for the rest of the store – it is clearly laid out and you will find all sorts of goodies here that you won’t see at Walmart.

Brookshires tries to cater for all palates and budgets and this is reflected in the choice available. ‘Food Club’ is their own brand of goods. If you come from ‘out of town’ like me then be sure to look for the International section where you can buy various familiar food items from Europe. There is also a significant Asian and Mexican section.

The food at Brookshires is slightly more pricey than at Walmart – though the special offers favor comparably. However, the shopping experience is so much nicer and the variety of goods they stock is amazing for East Texas. I have to add that the customer care is second to none – all the staff are so helpful and attentive to your needs. They make you feel valued and important here.

Don’t forget there is a bank instore, a photo shop and an excellent pharmacy, where you can make use of $4 generic prescriptions. There is even a drive-thru pick-up service.

One quick word about prices – there is a dual pricing system – one for the regular shopper and the other for visitors. If you plan to shop at Brookshires more than once, get yourself a ‘Thank you card’ by applying at the cash register or customer services. This means that you qualify for the lower prices and special offers. Don’t worry, they won’t bombard you with junk mail and they won’t give your personal details to any other company. You must present this card when checking out to receive the lower prices.

As you leave the store, enjoy the chance to have your bags packed for you (you can request brown bags rather than plastic or use our own and receive 5c back for each one used). Your cart will then be loaded and your shopping placed in your car for you. Don’t even think about tipping for this – it is all part of the everyday service at Brookshires.

One other thing to note – kids are welcomed at Brookshires. There are mini shopping carts for kid’s use and at the bakery they will happily offer your child a free cookie (while you drool over the amazing cakes on sale).
Altogether a nice experience – shopping at Brookshires in Rice Road is to be recommended.

Rega of Paris

Rega of Paris

6722 S Broadway
Tyler TX
75703
903 561 1705
www.regaofparis.com

Rega of Paris is a furniture consignment store in South Tyler (in the shopping area opposite Target and behind Don’s)
I first visited there when we moved here and we needed basic furniture to fill our house but I still go there occasionally now as it is such a great place to shop and you can find all sorts of nice quality and unique items for the home there.

Rega is a more upscale consignment store and has antiques as well as good quality furniture. They also consign smaller items like crockery, art work and bits and pieces for the home.

The owners will manage estate sales for you and will pick up (and deliver) items you buy or consign for a small fee. Sellers get just 50% of the selling price but as Rega is a popular shop the chance that your item will hang around unsold for long is pretty unlikely – so you will get your money fast.

The inventory changes regularly at Rega as there seems to be a fast turnover of goods. They even have a website where you can view the new arrivals and this is updated fairly frequently.

I am not usually a fan of second hand furniture stores (it fills me with visions of old folk and the smell of cat pee!) but Rega is very different. They only take the nicest pieces of furniture in good clean condition. Having had a few bad experiences with cheap furniture I now think it is better to buy something of better quality and style second hand than risk having something that falls apart after a year or so.

Rega of Paris is open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am – 5.30pm

Tyler Ross Store

January 13th, 2010

Tyler Ross is located on Rice Road in a small shopping area by what used to be Linens and Things. Ross is also near Starbucks, Murphy’s Jewelry, Jason’s Deli and the Marble Slab ice cream shop. I am sure that many of you have been to Ross or have heard of Ross by now.

Ross is a great place because they have nice clothes at good prices and usually the clothes that are there are brought in from other department stores. You often get to find name brand stuff at 50 to 70 percent off. Who wouldn’t like that? Ross has a variety of stuff that they offer from a good selection of purses, shoes, and also things for your bedroom like bed sheets and comforters, towels, and of course clothes.

Picture frames and stuff for your kitchen are also available at surprisingly cheap prices. They have a selection for your man also from clothes, under garments, ties, shoes and other stuff your man might enjoy. They have a pretty good selection for movies and some music CD’s. They also have a pretty good selection of clothes and shoes for your baby and your teens.

I always enjoy going shopping to Ross because you never know exactly what you might find. They have a small collection of watches that are all brand name. I bet Ross has something to offer for anyone in need of something and definitely if you are looking for clothes. Ross has almost all of their things priced much cheaper than other stores. I think Ross’s prices are as competitive as Wal Mart prices. Yes I said it. I think Ross might have a better selection of clothes than Wal Mart as well. You don’t have to choose between the two because I go and shop at both places. I don’t feel guilty at all by shopping at both places and neither should you. Ross is a great place to go shopping for your needs and wants.

Tyler Hand Me Ups

January 8th, 2010

Tyler Hand Me Ups is located in Tyler Texas close to Tyler Junior College. The store is just a couple of lights down on your right in a little shopping area with another store surrounding that. Hand Me Ups is a used clothing sale where you can find lots of good deals for very low prices.

The clothes are in very good condition and many are name brands. A lot of the time the store runs lots of sales store wide anywhere from 20% – 25% off the original price. There have been many times where I found clothes for $2 or $4 per item on really cute kids clothes. Trust me I love clothes and shoes so I would not lead you astray when it comes to clothes.

Besides clothes you can find shoes and I have seen name brands there and again for a reasonable price. You can also find, purses there, belts and some jewelry. They even have perfume.

If you are looking for baby clothes, usually they have very cute items that you can find there for your children, teens or adults. If you have no money to spend on clothes, then they have an opportunity for you to where you can take your clothes there and they will sell it for you and you give them a percent and you make some also. It’s a win, win situation, I think.

Anyways the people there working are very friendly and always ready to help you find what you are looking for. You can also choose to be put on their mailing list. And anytime they have a sell or something going on they give you a notice and sometimes they send you a card with an extra 10% off. I am truly a fan of this place. I seem to be able to find great deals, nice clothes for a price that I can afford.

If buying clothes that are second hand does not bother you, I would go and check it out. There have been times that I found items that still had their tag on it. Either way you can have fun, just going and checking it out, just to see what they have. It won’t hurt going by and besides you actually might end up liking it and finding lots of new stuff for yourself or for others.

Just like any other place you probably have to go there more than once. What I mean by that is, if you go and don’t find anything to your liking, I would not give up. I would go back several times again before you decide that the place has nothing for you. Like I said in the beginning, I love it and it suits me, and my price range. But you will have to go see for yourself to see if you like it or not. Everybody likes to look nice and I don’t think too many people like to spend more than they have on clothes.

I am a girl and one that loves to be girly but don’t have lots of money to spend on it so I look for good deals and they seem to have it.
