Its Rapture Day Today… Again!

May 21st, 2011

The Rapture

I was shocked and amazed to awaken this morning on Planet Earth! I fully expected to be “raptured” sometime after midnight! I mean, I had it on good authority that my salvation was absolutely assured! What could have happened? Well a Christian apocalyptic group using the website http://www.familyradio.com has been predicting the rapture, and subsequent end of the world beginning today May 21st, 2011. Their webpage is unequivocal about the date. How did they arrive at it? Well let’s see if I can explain it… “By careful study of the Bible we learn that in the year 4990 B.C. God brought a flood of water and destroyed the entire earth except for eight people and the animals that were with them.” Wait how exactly did we arrive at this date? Well, careful study of course! I for one am now convinced! The author then falls back on an old theological parlor trick. He cites the oft maligned verse “to God a day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as a day…” which, as my brother vehemently points out, is a metaphor for the mercy of God and actually has nothing whatever to do with time. The misinterpretation is very useful to end-timers however, who turn and point out that creation took six days, and on the seventh day God rested, meaning of course that creation, and his work, was complete. Anyway, if you take the rock hard unquestionable date of the flood, 4990 BC, add the current date 2011, subtract a year for the year zero, (evidently God was fine with the random subtraction of an entire year), and abracadabra! 7,000 years!

Ok, so I realize I may be oversimplifying a bit, but honestly, not much. I should also add that the pastor behind these claims has made them before. He also stated in 1994 that the end had come. Come to find out, it hadn’t! He later corrected his mistake by explaining it was just the end of the age of the church. All our pastors and priests have been under satanic direction since 94. Who knew?! But wait.. isn’t he ah… a Pastor? I’m confused. Well its only late morning after all, so Rapture Day is still young. A friend offered me the encouragement that we actually have until 6:00 this afternoon so… of course she was still here too, so I’m not real sure what to do with that. Oh well Jesus can come back whenever he wants as far as I’m concerned. I think I’ll go ahead with my evening plans. If I suddenly find the scenery changing, so be it. That should be fun too!

Tyler Veterinary Clinics

August 12th, 2010

When you are trying to find the right veterinary clinic for your animal, it can be frustrating and confusing. Tyler has so many different veterinary clinics and when you choose to take your pet to a horrible one, can be one of the most frustrating things.

One of Tyler’s veterinary clinics I will not take my animals to is Spence & White Veterinary Clinic. I do not know what was the most frustrating thing about the clinic, how rude and short the doctors are to the pet owners, how dirty the office and waiting rooms are, or how they do not care if their other patients are allowing their animals run around the clinic. This has to be one of the worse clinics in Tyler, I have even heard of people’s animals getting attacked by cats at the office and the staff not doing anything about it. It is one of the lowest rated clinics in Tyler, which speaks for itself. The doctors do not take very much time to see your animals and I have heard of many people having to go to different doctors because their animals still had the same problems that they have had when they went to Spence & White.

Tyler does have some great veterinary clinics that people take their animals to and leave impressed by their person doctor, nice staff, and clean offices. Two of these clinics are University Animal Care Clinic and Copeland Road Animal Hospital. University Animal Care Clinic is known for their amazing staff that is very caring for every pet. They do an amazing job when it comes to getting your animals groomed. You feel comfortable leaving your animals in the hands of the staff. Copeland Road Animal Hospital has a great staff that tries to take in any emergency that your pet may have as fast as they can. There really is not much of a wait time at Copeland. They even have supplies and food for your animals for sale for great prices.

Be careful what veterinarian you take your animal to. Though Tyler has some really great vets there are many that do not care about your animal half as much as you do and are not worth your money nor your business.

Movie in the Park

August 4th, 2010

Bergfeld Park has been the home of many shows, banquets, and events in East Texas. Some of them are very odd, like the animals in the park were they only sold ice cream treats for your dog and not for your kids, but some of them are a great idea, like the movie in the park. A few times a year a huge projector screen is set up in the middle of the park and a family friendly film is played. This event is opened for anyone in Tyler TX or even visitors. They always play movies that are appropriate for small children, if it be an old Don Knotts film or a somewhat new release.

Many times people bring free drink and snacks for everyone watching the movies. I was surprised how many people came out to this Tyler TX event. We had so much fun even though the seat were not that comfortable and it was pretty hot outside (it does help that it is not in during the day). This is a great event for your family met other families and the best part is that it is free. You can see signs on the corner of Broadway and the park of the newest shows and times, they also advertise for other up coming events.
