Snow in Tyler Texas again in 2011! We love snow here in Tyler

January 9th, 2011

Tyler Texas Snowing 2011We looked outside around 2:30 to snow fall. We began to think the forecast of snow in Tyler TX wasn’t going to happen but it did.

We are hoping for a lot more and for it to get colder. Once there is a nice big thick blanket of snow we are going to go find a good steep hill to sled down.

Last year we had an amazing snow fall in March I think which was really odd for Texas and had many people saying so well for Global Warming.

Now global warming is called Climate Change but that still requires us to look at some previous claims.

Climate change people now say that more snow in the winter also proves global warming but this is not what the claim was a few years back?

Well anyway back off of politics I am very happy to see some snow and we will be playing in it all day after my son gets up from his nap.

K2 is Apparently a Synthetic Marijuana

September 28th, 2010

Da Hippie

This new thing called K2 has something in it that makes it a synthetic form of marijuana.

It supposedly can create the same types of effects as smoking a joint and because of this it has been banned in the city limits of cities like Tyler and Bullard Texas.

K2 is being sold outside the city limits of Tyler in gas stations and hippie type shops, hmmm…cough… Da Hippie.

When questioning if this leafy like substance can be smoked like pot you will likely be told, “It’s an incense for smelling but not for smoking, but off the record you can smoke this sh$&.

So right here in the Bible belt pot is somewhat legal in our backyard. Sure it has kind of snuck in through a sidedoor called incense but it’s here.

There are many knock offs out there called K2 that do nothing more for you than if you smoked oregano.

So we have this substance available while pot is illegal. It seems odd but pot is here in Tyler Texas and people are smoking it legally.

What is your opinion on this incense known as K2? Leave comments below.

Movie in the Park

August 4th, 2010

Bergfeld Park has been the home of many shows, banquets, and events in East Texas. Some of them are very odd, like the animals in the park were they only sold ice cream treats for your dog and not for your kids, but some of them are a great idea, like the movie in the park. A few times a year a huge projector screen is set up in the middle of the park and a family friendly film is played. This event is opened for anyone in Tyler TX or even visitors. They always play movies that are appropriate for small children, if it be an old Don Knotts film or a somewhat new release.

Many times people bring free drink and snacks for everyone watching the movies. I was surprised how many people came out to this Tyler TX event. We had so much fun even though the seat were not that comfortable and it was pretty hot outside (it does help that it is not in during the day). This is a great event for your family met other families and the best part is that it is free. You can see signs on the corner of Broadway and the park of the newest shows and times, they also advertise for other up coming events.

Mexican/Seafood do I dare?

January 1st, 2010

With Tyler being overrun with restaurants and a large number of them being mexican restaurants, it is real easy to overlook a restaurant like the Cancun Cafe. If you are in the mood for mexican food and are bored with the multiple Lugars, it might be time to try something with a little kick. Cancun Cafe is located off of the loop in Tyler across from the Green Acres Bowling Alley. Without the bright lights of Mercados it can be easy to overlook but this is one dining spot in Tyler you don’t want to miss.

Cancun Cafe has quality mexican food and surprisingly enough I’ve found that they also have a large quantity of delicious seafood dishes, and no this isn’t fish tacos or a trout with a jalepeno stuffed down its throat, this is quality seafood dishes with a kick, coupled with great mexican food. The signature dish that I have to suggest that everyone try at least once is their fajitas and snowcrab. I found as odd as this sounds it is one of the tastiest combos I’ve ever tried.

The service is decent although many people have had problems with food arriving late. Since this is not one of the more popular mexican restaurants like On the Border or Mercados, you will not find the crowds you will find packed out the doors as is frequently the case at those places, allowing you to be seated almost immediately. The atmosphere is like that of most of the mexican restaurants in Tyler and is roomy enough to cater to nearly all of your party needs. This is a restaurant that hosts events like karaoke night so if you don’t mind the howling that comes with these events it can be a good night out on the town.

Prices are pretty good, with several dishes under $10, and quantities especially in the fajitas and snowcrab are very generous. When ordering a dish like that you might consider taking a bag to go because I’ve found they often serve more than one can eat. So next time you are eating out, try something new like the Cancun Cafe, as long as you don’t mind the occasional wait for your meal it’ll definately be worth your while.
