Downtown Tyler Square, What Does it Offer?

December 7th, 2010
Downtown Tyler Texas

Tyler Texas Square

The downtown Tyler Texas square used to offer Jack King Jr. screaming “downtown Tyler” but he is no longer there and people would prefer to impersonate him now rather then hear him do that anymore.

But beyond Jack King Jr.’s TV commercial memorable pitch downtown Tyler has quite a bit more to offer. When I go downtown I usually am stopping at Don Juan’s Mexican Restaurant or I am taking my wife on a fancy date to Jake’s.

When going into Jake’s be sure to let the hostess know you want to go sit up on the roof top. If the weather is good the roof top offers the best experience while eating here. The food at Jake’s is very good and they have a finer dinner menu selection to choose from compared to Chili’s or even Outback.

Jake’s offers an experience of local Tyler Texas dining in one of the many old buildings that still have survived the square.

Just about one year ago a few of these old buildings were destroyed in a fire. In fact a remodeled store converted to a coffee shop/ music venue was taken out as well as a law firm and architecture business. This area is now being turned into a park thanks to the generosity of Brookshire’s grocery store company.

When in downtown during Christmas be sure to stretch your legs by walking in the square. The city of Tyler lights up the square with Christmas lights although any sign of a cross, nativity scene and so on is unfortunately missing. Times do change and political correctness is what you will see now during Christmas. The square is still very pretty and enjoyable and worth a stroll around.

The square also offers Tyler Citizens a fun place for kids as the Discovery Science Place is in walking distance. This place provides something along the lines of a interactive science center for kids in the age range of 2 – 9 and will easily take up a good 3 hours if you decide to experience everything there they have to offer.

You can also find the very large First Place building at the Tyler Square. The First Place building houses Regions Bank and offers the best commercial real estate offices in town. Many businesses would not accept anything less than the premier facilities you get in this building.

If you are looking for commercial real estate in Tyler I definitely recommend riding the elevators and checking out the offices in this building first hand. Both the view, looks, and spaciousness in these commercial offices can’t be found anywhere else in Tyler.

Finally consider that the Tyler downtown square has several unique antique shops as well as a few very old traditional churches. You can find Marvin United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, and Christ Episcopal Church all in downtown Tyler and very close to the square.

How to purchase investment realty property in east texas

November 18th, 2010

East Texas commercial real estate transactions will vary depending on the type of venture you choose to pursue. If you are looking into purchasing something like a rental home, you will want to make sure that you find something in a nice friendly neighborhood that is close to a school and a grocery store. Families need to do laundry, park their car, play outside, have an up to date energy efficient furnace and properly secured windows.

East Texas Real Estate – Commercial Agencies

When dealing with rental units such as duplexes, or apartment complexes, you will need to make sure that all health safety regulations are met for fire safety. When searching for commercial real estate, making sure all of the necessary details are taken care of will ensure that you do not have to come up with any unexpected repair money once you have purchased the property.

If you are looking to buy a warehouse, office building, storefront or anything that you would be leased to a company, you will need to make sure that everything is in working order, the location is perfect for getting traffic and being seen, there is adequate parking space for their clients and customers.

Dealing with an experienced East Texas Commercial Real Estate agent will allow you to trust them to know the information you need to know about an area and relay that information on to you. Once you have told them what you are looking for, they will work with you until you find that perfect choice.

Fruity Pebbles Taste Nasty! What Happened?

October 24th, 2010
fruity pebbles nasty gross disgusting flavor

Fruity Pebbles Cereal Tastes Nasty

I bought Fruity Pebbles at Brookshires Grocery Store today and was very disappointed to discover the cereal tastes like throw up.

I quickly spit the cereal out of my mouth and wondered what the deal is. Does Fruity Pebbles now use a new recipe with cheaper ingredients to save money?

The milk hasn’t changed colors yet either. I will never buy disgusting fruity pebbles ever again. I wonder if the offbrand “Dyno Bites” has the same taste issue?

Please comment if you have been poisoned by nasty flavors in your mouth as I have from Fruity Pebbles.

Fresh Grocery Store

The construction of Fresh has started and hopefully will be opened next year (2011). The store will still have the friendly customer service that you can find at other Brookshire’s Grocery Stores. This development is a great new establishment for East Texas.

I am really looking forward to this store and I am glad that the store has started going up. At one point I heard that the organic grocery store was going to open this month but by driving by the location I can not see how that is going to happen. Brookshire’s company is bringing Fresh to Tyler to give a whole new experience of grocery shopping. Fresh will bring a new way of healthy eating, shopping, and living to East Texas.

Brookshires Grocery Store

Brookshires in Tyler Texas

100 Rice Road
Tyler
903 561 7943

This family-friendly Christian owned and operated grocery store in the center of the popular shopping area in Tyler is a delight to shop at.

As you walk into the store you will be surprised at the quality and variety of fruit and vegetables on sale. Much of the produce available is organic and grown locally too. Look out for samples of their seasonal items.

Before you start to shop you might want to treat yourself to a gourmet coffee – sold just inside the door on the left at the coffee bar. You will notice that there are many who take advantage of the little cafe area there too. If you have time you could stop and drink your coffee while you look at the weekly paper containing details of the latest special offers at Brookshires. Of particular note is the meat section -they have the most amazing deals on particular cuts of meat and these offers change weekly.

Continue on through the store stopping perhaps at the excellent delicatessen or the bakery section where you can buy delicious breads of all sorts of types and containing healthy grains, baked in store. The meat section is very good too and the seafood is one of the best in a supermarket around here.

As for the rest of the store – it is clearly laid out and you will find all sorts of goodies here that you won’t see at Walmart.

Brookshires tries to cater for all palates and budgets and this is reflected in the choice available. ‘Food Club’ is their own brand of goods. If you come from ‘out of town’ like me then be sure to look for the International section where you can buy various familiar food items from Europe. There is also a significant Asian and Mexican section.

The food at Brookshires is slightly more pricey than at Walmart – though the special offers favor comparably. However, the shopping experience is so much nicer and the variety of goods they stock is amazing for East Texas. I have to add that the customer care is second to none – all the staff are so helpful and attentive to your needs. They make you feel valued and important here.

Don’t forget there is a bank instore, a photo shop and an excellent pharmacy, where you can make use of $4 generic prescriptions. There is even a drive-thru pick-up service.

One quick word about prices – there is a dual pricing system – one for the regular shopper and the other for visitors. If you plan to shop at Brookshires more than once, get yourself a ‘Thank you card’ by applying at the cash register or customer services. This means that you qualify for the lower prices and special offers. Don’t worry, they won’t bombard you with junk mail and they won’t give your personal details to any other company. You must present this card when checking out to receive the lower prices.

As you leave the store, enjoy the chance to have your bags packed for you (you can request brown bags rather than plastic or use our own and receive 5c back for each one used). Your cart will then be loaded and your shopping placed in your car for you. Don’t even think about tipping for this – it is all part of the everyday service at Brookshires.

One other thing to note – kids are welcomed at Brookshires. There are mini shopping carts for kid’s use and at the bakery they will happily offer your child a free cookie (while you drool over the amazing cakes on sale).
Altogether a nice experience – shopping at Brookshires in Rice Road is to be recommended.
