Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina

March 2nd, 2012

3316 Troup Highway Tyler, TX 75701
(903) 593-1100

I visit Salsarita’s about every few weeks as one of the mexican restaurants I really enjoy going to. You could most easily compare this restaurant to Chipotle but there are some noticeable differences.

Salsarita’s offers a little more variety when it comes to make your own burritos and taco dinners. The signature chips with queso is one stand out difference.

One could argue that with such a large burrito as what you get at Salsarita’s you may never order the chips and queso because it would be too much food. To that argument I say fooee, we live in the obese country of the USA, people will not only eat a large burrito, queso and chips, but will go get a milk shake for dessert at Smashburger when they are finished.

I have no objection to the soft tacos or burritos at Salsarita’s. Both of these choices are fantastic and the ingredient choices are numerous. Chipotle is their closest competitor and from what I can tell Chipotle has a more quality choice of lettuce, guacamole, and beef that is to my liking.

I still can’t decide for sure if I like Chipotle or Salsarita’s more but one thing is distinct in that Chipotle has very rare bloody steak meat so if that is not too your taste head on over to Salsarita’s.

Burger House

Burger House Tyler Texas

Burger House Tyler Texas

Burger House has brought a great pride to East Texas. The fun “every one knows your name” atmosphere makes your experience of eating at Burger House more enjoyable. Between the giant chalk board and the few video games, my kids have fun when they eat here. The restaurant has a great monument painted on the walls resembling all the greatest treasures in Tyler.

Besides the paintings on the walls and the small video games, Burger House offers great food. They have a great selection of burgers that are made just to your liking. Before eating there I really had not heard very many reports about Burger House. I think that the new burger restaurant Smash Burger has over shadowed Burger House. Burger House has other food than just burgers; they also have chicken sandwiches and hotdogs. The restaurant has chili cheese fries, if you can get over the guilt of the 10 pounds you are putting on from the deep fried potatoes, thick chili, and melted cheese, you will realize how great the food is here.

Not only is the food comparable to the popular Smash Burger, the prices are comparable to. You can eat somewhat cheap here and the servings are large enough to share. They have perfect portions for your small children. Your children can choose their favorite meal from the selections of burger, corn dog, or hotdog. Burger House has two rooms with televisions; usually play the popular sports game or Fox News. Burger house is a fun place to hang out and the food is pretty great too!

The Egg and I

Egg and I breakfast in Tyler TX
I walked into the Egg and I Tyler TX Restaurant and was very impressed. The small restaurant only serves breakfast, brunch and lunch. The restaurant is scented with sweet smell hazelnut coffee and maple syrup. The waitresses greeted you with a friendly “hello” and they were extremely helpful when ordering.

We looked over the menu and we pleasantly surprised with the prices, and the wonderful selection of breakfast and lunch entrees. I looked through the large omelet selection. The menu had every type of omelet that you could imagine. Mushrooms, cheddar or Swiss cheese, beef ham or bacon, they all sounded so great. I ordered a cordon blue casserole. I was amazed in the great flavoring of the potatoes, chicken and ham mixed together toped with Swiss cheese and cheese sauce and finally topped off with their famous egg cooked to my liking.

If you are not an egg lover don’t fret, egg items are not the only things on the menu. If you are a sweet tooth and want something to ease that chocolate craving, you are in luck! Order the filling and truly homemade tasting chocolate chip pancake. Dig into the thick fluffy chocolate chip stuffed pancake topped off with chocolate sauce and served with maple syrup on the side.

Choose from their delicious coffees, or choose a juice or fountain drink.

The service was amazing. The waitresses and waiters were polite and were constanly refilling drinks and asking if there was anything else that we wanted. After we ordered our food, it took lease than ten minutes for our food to come out to our table.

They have another room that you can reserve for a party or meeting. It is very private and closed off from the rest off the restaurant. So call and reserve the private room today.

Enjoy great company, a quiet atmosphere, and great food at a wonderful price. Come to the Egg & I for a meeting, party or date.
